Caravan Cover Question

Not got one, but I would say, almost certainly, it has to be dry!

Protec state that the caravan can be wet or dry since the cover is breathable.

If the cover is non-breathable then the van must be dry - but then a non breathable cover might induce mould and mildew unless the van is aired regularly.

  • 3 weeks later...

Just fitted a Specialised Cover

They advise its preferable if the caravan is mostly dry but shouldn't matter too much as the cover is breathable

I don't think it makes much difference (if it's breathable it should dry underneath, eventually) but I know from personal experience it's a whole lot easier to fit if the van is not just dry but ideally polished too - it simply transforms the 'slip' so its LOTS easier to fit :-)

We had our van Paintsealed and that made a big difference too (although that wouldn't justify the cost on its own!)

Final thought is that any dirt left under the cover won't help the paint surface, as it will turn the inside of the cover into a Brillo pad, so my usual routine is to leave the cover off until the van's been skinwashed, leave to dry and then fit the cover. ..
