Cost Of A Holiday In Spain?

Recommended Posts

On page 39 of the latest CC magazine there is an "offer" from Alan Rogers for a visit to Andalucia between 27th Feb and 12th March 14 nights. The unit price is £929 however on reading further this excludes ferry crossings, insurance etc.

Although a few tours are thrown in, it seems very expensive for what is basically a pitch in the winter or is it just me? Surely a lot cheaper to just go on your own?

I have just read that one as well. and came to the same conclusion that it was very expensive.

We did similar trip on our own earlier this year as part of 10 weeks touring and the whole trip only cost about £2000 including ferries, sites, diesel and food!

I think this is really only for those trying first time abroad.

That doesn't sound right for just the site. If it's La Bella Vista the short term winter rate is about £29/night, so 14 nights would be £406. Bella Vista is a silly price for short term, but the rate looks better for a month or 3 months. We stayed for 3 months last winter.

Are you sure it doesn't include insurance and perhaps the cheapest cross channel ferry? I've just logged in and couldn't find the offer you mentioned. We don't have the magazine so perhaps it's there.

I go to southern Spain for four months, staying at the same site for the duration. My total site fees is around £790. For the total costs including ferry, fuel, tolls & insurance see the last paragraph of my Spanish blog.

TBH there is no point in coming to S Spain for two weeks if you want bargain prices.

Cost decreases the longer you stay here due to cost of fuel, food prices etc.

Whichever way you look at it you are not going to save money for a fortnight here when you take ferry crossings and site fees into consideration.

Well for that sort of money I would fly and stay in a hotel.

An organised tour is always going to cost more than DIY? Bottom line is many want simplicity and will choose to book a "package" with other like minded folk.

I would imagine many will take this plus add on their own part of another tour or rally I would guess. Andalucia is a long way to get to for 14 nights as said

We came across one of these s tours last spring at EL Rosio in southern Spain there were about Ten caravans in the tour they were on the tour for 12 days it cost them £100 pounds a day and they had got themselves from UK to Souther Spain before the tour started must be a lot of rich caravaners in the caravan club

If you can get yourself to Andalucia then you can stay on one of four ACSI Card sites, for just 14 euros a night - that's just 196 euros - and perhaps even less if you stay longer and take advantage of the site's own special offers.

However, there's no doubt that these escorted tours suit some people, and for those people I expect it's a price worth paying.

I would have thought that people who wanted help with going so far with their caravan would want escorting right from the UK and seeing they got on the ferry and along the driving route to the site.

Of course do not know how that could be done but surely that is what frightens people the getting to site.

The tours are not escorted as you have to make your own way to each site. When on site they organise 2 tours at each site. Seems very over priced for what you are getting.

The point stands though - there is obviously a market for them otherwise they wouldn't be offered.

Obviously as avid forum addicts we all know how to do things cheaper and for ourselves :) the 95% + of caravanners who don't use forums may not

Very true thanks to CT and other similar forums.

Just to throw a little cost saver in. We filled up with diesel at Al Campo in Castellon yesterday at €0. 939/Litre. Divide that by the current exchange rate of €1. 40 to the £ and you pay £0. 67/Litre. Not bad! There are times when I wish the tank had extra capacity.
