Symes99
Looking to next year and wondered if there are any parks close to London near an underground station?

WispMan
The CC West London is very near an overground train. Quote Graham Unless otherwise stated all posts are my personal opinion
TedNewman
Abbey Wood is walking distance of the Overground trains with direct lines to London Cannon Street, Charing Cross and London Bridge plus interchange at Woolwich Arsenal for the DLR any of which will get you to central London in just over half an hour PLUS if you need to do shopping a brand new Sainsbury's superstrore has just opened next to the railway station. PS Abbey Wood is a part of the Royal London Borough of Greenwich which in itself has a lot to offer. PPS Abbey Wood is very popular so advance booking is recommended. damoleeds
Thoroughly recommend the water bus from near the Cutty Sark in to London. The way to travel, and even a bar on board. Discount with an oyster card too.
David55
If you don't want to drive as far in as Abbey Wood or Crystal Palace there is an alternative option. Try the Welwyn Garden City Caravan Club site. Catch the mainline train from Welwyn Garden City or Hatfield. Trains around every 20 minutes to Kings Cross. If you are going to use your car it takes 10 mins from the site to Hatfield station with cheap daily parking after 10am and all day weekends. Another vote for Abbey Wood - just don't leave your shoes out - wife lost two odd sandals to foxes which came under the edge of the awning in the middle of the night . Just our luck they took one of each pair - good job she had a pair of trainers in the van

I think the nearest underground is Brixton, which is about 20 minutes on the bus (so might as well stay on the bus into Central London).
poolebob
CC site at Denham. Overground to Marylebone 5 mins away with good but not cheap car park. You can however park about 5 mins away for free Also not to far to West Ruislip or Uxbridge underground but not sure about parking though 1 Quote Honda CRV Diesel Petrol & No caravan now. klyne
We have not long been back from Abbey Wood. Its changed a lot from our previous visit 15 years ago. Some pictures here http://www. davidklyne. co. uk/abbey_wood_cc_site. html Agree with Ted, Greenwich should not be overlooked. We did one day all around Greenwich and another day we went into the city by Thames Clipper to Bankside to look at the Tate Modern and the Globe. Had a really good time. I always hesitate to mention bus passes as you never know whether a poster is 27 or 72!!! But, if anyone has a bus pass from outside London, ie not a Freedom Pass, you can still use it on the buses. The 180 from near the site will take you to Greenwich. David Quote David - Milton Keynes Bailey Alliance 66-2 Motorhome for holidays and a Kia Venga for home.
