gravon42
Two questions in one! Is it possible to separate the two halves of the directional aerial? I think I have a loose connection in it. I have disconnected the battery, but left it in the box. When I got in the car yesterday I sat on the fob, and the caravan alarm went off! Obviously it has its own battery, but where is it located? Does it need any maintenance? 2011 Land Rover Freelander 2, Lago grey 2013 Freelander Dynamic Black, followed by a 2013 Elddis 574 Magnum GT white
Oldgreymatters
Hi Gravon42, Unable to answer your first question regarding the aerial! But as far as the alarm is concerned the answer is Yes there is a separate battery which is kept charged from the van battery. The alarm can be found anywhere but is often under one of the front seats and can look just like a small black box. If the alarm is a Sargent brand then the battery is inside the black box and looks a bit like two candles stuck together. No maintenance required except when worn out. People often have a solar panel to help keep the van battery charged just so it can then charge the alarm battery when the van is left alarmed for any length of time, eg when in storage. Hope this helps.
