Hello, first of all, straight out with it, I know very little about the ins and outs of owning a static caravan on a park. I don't want a luxurious, new van, simply something basic and clean that will do us for around 5 years. So obviously I'm looking at pre-owned. Depending on whether we can find someone to share with us, I'm probably looking to spend no more than £20k or so and if we have to do it alone, a good deal less than that. Ideally we're looking at the Yorkshire Dales, Lakes or North Lancashire areas. I'd just like to know if my expectation of getting a van in the price range mentioned is realistic and if anyone knows of any decent sites in my preferred areas. We aren't bothered about faciliates such as shop/club/play area etc. Thanks in anticipation. H
Due to a severe illness in the family, good friends of ours have had to cancel their booking at Causeway Croft in Kettlewell, Yorkshire Dales, this weekend. The booking is for Friday and Saturday at this excellent site. The extremely popular scarecrow festival will be on this weekend in the village. There are three good pubs within metres of the site and it has excellent views and is brilliant for walking. Facilities were fairly basic when we last visited (toilet, pay-shower and electric) though a new facilities block was near completion. The site takes about 10 caravans/motorhomes and has excellent views. If interested, get in touch with the site direct. It won't be free for long! 01756 760297
Thinking about having a couple weeks in the Yorkshire Dales next year. Would appreciate recommendations of caravan sites, especially Caravan Club, and also best areas to use as a base and places to visit - we like walking. .
