I’ve experienced an issue with the pump not shutting off, moved sites set up again and the pump started up but really whinny, eventually it shut off and that was it never worked again. Replaced the pump changed the IC and the same issue occurred really whinny not shutting off. Checked the microswitch, non return valve and diaphragm. I think I’ve blown the IC again, trying to get help from Whale for the past 3 days no joy! Anyone know how to check the IC with a multimeter to see if it’s blown? I get nothing when the taps are on and no flashing green light on the IC.

Hi everyone, New to the forum (and caravanning in general) and in need of advice...this seemed to be the place to get some! Sorry in advance for the long post but want to give the detail of what we have already done/tried to solve our lack of water problem We recently purchased a 2007 Coachman VIP 530/4 - great van and we are very happy with it but...ever since getting it home and testing out the water pump we've been having problems. FYI we purchased on the basis that the previous owner 'thought' the Truma submersive pump would work, but he had never used it as they had always used a direct hose plug in on a fully serviced pitch. When we connected it the pump did spring to life however this only lasted about 5 seconds before it then stopped. Wasn't able to get it going again at all. I purchased a new external submerive pump and this time went for the Whale version as it's supposedly better than the Truma one we already had, that didn't work. I tried some other basic fixes like the fuse and after also used some emory paper on the external metal elements (thanks to The Trudgians for this tip), but still nothing. I ended up calling out a mobile repair guy and even he found it a head-scratcher. After some 12v tests it pointed to the Truma Ultraflow pressure switch and surge damper being knackered. Power was going into the unit but not coming back out. He recommended I replace this. Here's a link to this unit for reference: Truma Ultraflow Pressure Switch & Surge Damper As it turns out this semi-sealed white box thing from Truma are now obselete and what few are still kicking around certainly don't look like they are worth the money being charged (£100+). So, based off of another post I found on here I purchased a Whale in-line pressure switch and Whale pressure damper. There was a great pic showing how the plumbing needed to be configured which I successfully managed to do. Here's a pic of my new plumbing config: New plumbing config The electrics is where it got a bit more tricky, and this might be my problem now. On the Truma unit it had 4 cables connecting to it - 2+ and 2-. On the new Whale unit it only has modules to accept +. Following the previously mentioned post, I connected the positives to it, and joined the remaining 2 negatives (which actually consists of 3 wires) together using a 10amp fuse as a make-shift joiner. Here's a closer pic of the eletrics to it: electrics to whale pressure switch Turned on the master switch, turned on the pump, got an illuminated light stratight away along with about 2-3 seconds of beautiful noise that it was working and then...dead. Shut off again and I'm not in the same position as when I started with the Truma switch. Basically I think I have managed to work out that the white cable is my - connection but I have no idea what hte blue and yellow wires are or what they do. I'd be super grateful if anyone can suggest what to do here as we would like to go away for this last time this year in the next couple of weeks but it's quite an inconvenience without any running water! Thanks in advance if you can help, Tristan

We took our 2018 Unicorn Cabrera out for a short trip this weekend to check that everything is ok for the coming season. The main issue was the water pump not always working. It would work fine for half a day and then stop pumping altogether. I really didn't enjoy going out in the wind and rain to it ! Has anyone else had similar problems or do I have a mechanical/ electrical failure to solve?

If pump intermittently starts after using taps and water trickles back down the pump socket. Check diaphragm has not got minute particles in it . Dismantle and carefully note where bits are positioned and place in a small bowl of antibacterial diluted with water this usually rectifies the problem you will see insect and small particles in the water after a few minutes you can then re assemble it.

My whale pump started playing up this weekend, it started leaking between the flow system and the motor housing, on inspection the pump was hot and making a noise like a plug shorting out. As i am in Spain for the winter i had no option but to take it out and have a look to see if it could be mended, the pump is only 2 years old and still in warranty. Thing is its not anymore as i opened it up and guess what the motor housing was full of water, see pic all that water on table came out, has anyone else encountered this, cant be the norm can it? I have sent pics and a letter to info@whalepumps. com to see if they can sort something out but as yet not had a reply.

Hi, I have a Bailey Ranger 1999 440/4 it has a Whale-master with a blue filter which leaks when turned on. These are now obsolete so can anyone tell me what is the best replacement for this (full system) please?

I'm new to caravaning so sorry if this is daft question. .... should the water pump be left on or just switched on when you need to use it? The pump I had (Whale) used to pulse and the red light used to flash if I left it switched on without actually running the water so I bought a new one and it does pretty much the same thing. There's always plenty of water in the aquaroll and everything works fine but I don't know what the pulsing sound is or why the light flashes? Any help or suggestions gratefully accepted.

Hi - recently left the water pump running for a week - we have a Unicorn Valencia MK 1 2011 - The inboard pump is model number FP0814 - There appears to be no apparent damage, works fine, no more noise than usual - To check i contacted Whale via their web site - I did this twice over a period of 3 weeks - no reply . I then rang and quickly got transferred to the correct department - After explaining what had happened the advice was that if it developed problems in the future come back to us . I was expecting more informative and constructive advice. Based on Whales reply I will now purchase a spare pump and keep just in case .
