Hi, new to the forum. We are thinking about buying our first caravan and taking a month to go round Spain this Winter. We already live in Spain (Aussie expats), but the value and quality of the used vans we've seen in Spain (milanuncios) leave a lot to be desired, compared to what we have seen in the UK (gumtree). We noticed a few used caravan dealers in the UK state that they sell vans for export and were wondering if anybody else has bought a van without seeing it, if it's recommended, what the pros and cons might be, any recommended dealers for this, etc, etc? Our budget is about 5k, and at the end of the trip we'll either sell the van at the beginning of the summer (in Spain), or just hold onto it for another trip - depending on how things go. hey guys, i've been to the UK last year and i love it. so i plan on coming back to the UK for good this summer. Already having a postal adress there. . Turns out i'll need a caravan in germany anyway before coming to the UK. .. Sadly they are either Rubbish or too expensive over here in Germany, so i plan on buying one in the UK next week. This is what a guy on ebay just wrote to me: "...buying a caravan in the UK is far more simple than nearly anywhere in Europe. The is virtually no paperwork, not MOT, No insurance(unless you want it)The vehicle number towing the caravan is the number plate you put on the back. If you intend to tow with a German registered car bring an extra rear number plate from Germany with you. " and here is my doubting answer on it being that easy: "sounds good so far, BUTT as i told u, i plan on using it in germany for some months first. So, will that also work out from the moment i leave the UK with that (unusual) car / trailer combination? AND will that work out at all driving round in germany, without having it registered in germany as well? basically i'd be towing a caravan, that is registered and bought in the UK. .. . ..through germany only with the duplicate of my german(y registered) car rear number plate on its back? that would be ok with german police? are u sure? where can i doublecheck that? which british paperwork will i have to carry with me then, while driving like that in germany? Cld i also tow a caravan that i'm not owning myself but a british citizen, who is ok with hat? Any paperwork needed?" Thx 4 helping please, nice people of caravantalk ;-) cheers matt
