Hi All I am toying with the idea of a 2016 Volvo XC60 R Design for towing a 1450kg Bailey. I have seen a few negative comments about the RD, mainly regarding the stiffer suspension and also problems of fitting a tow bar. Would I be better off with a standard 2.4 D4 or D5? Does anybody tow with a R Design and is the firm suspension a problem? Any advice greatly appreciated
Reading the owners handbook (on-line version) for my new tug the following bits of information/advice caught my eye All of which pretty much matches what we know anyway but it's good to see car manufacturers are printing it. This one is more interesting as it permits exceeding the plated weights in the stated circumstances. I wonder how the authorities would react if a vehicle was found in these circumstances? This is for a Vauxhall and also applies to my present vehicle, I wonder how many others have a similar relaxation.
After a great deal of work and some fantastic feedback from our Caravan Talk Supporters (who got an early screening) and early reviewers (you know who you are ) we're proud to announce a new tool: Towcar Reviews This section is free to all members and will let you easily add reviews of your favourite towcars to our new database. We've included all of the regular bits that you'd expect in car reviews, but also some bits just for caravanners (such as kerb weight, noseweight etc if known). Please take a look and leave you own reviews of your current and previous towcars, the more of you that add entries, the more useful it will be to those looking for a tow car. You never know; you might use it yourself when researching your next tugger! It's still in early development, so if there are any bugs or issues please let me know directly or via this thread and I'll look into fixing them ASAP. Oh, and for those who're wondering; no we haven't forgotten caravan and campsite reviews - they're next!!!
