  1. Hi all! Alex and Dom here from Eversure Caravan Insurance with our very first AMA (Ask Me Anything)! If you’re a little bit confused about caravan insurance or would like to find out more about it and what cover you can get, post your questions here and we’ll try and shed some light on what is sometimes a confusing subject. You can even pop onto our website and grab a quick quote to see if you can save money when you switch to us (our website is at the bottom of this post) Right. ..enough of all that, ask away. ..we're all ears! www. eversure. com/caravan-insurance/
  2. We had hoped to tour the UK for a few months this summer, perhaps through to next year and having trouble getting car insurance with Admiral because we won't be able to give a permanent home address (we have sold and we are looking for a new bricks & mortar home!) or where the car will be parked each night. Any past experience would be really helpful or suggestions of insurance companies who understand the nature of touring.
  3. Having just retired and wanting to spend our time touring the UK full time in our Buccaneer Commodore can anyone offer information as to which insurance providers will cover us for 365 days travelling. Everyone we have spoken to so far want to know where our caravan will be stored even though we have explained we intend to use the caravan all the time. Thanks
  4. Our Grand Plan is to downsize on the house front and go Part time, full time touring in the Knaus. and by that I mean spend a week or two at home to repair and recharge etc and then shoot off in the Knaus for 3 weeks or a month before returning to the "Ranch" to check the mail and do any repairs etc. Your views, ideas, hints tips and opinions will be gratefully received. 5. Hi everyone we are hoping to visit France towing an 8 metre inc draw bar single axle caravan, I've mentioned the caravan size as I believe not all sites will accept certain size caravans. We would like to travel down one side of France across and then back home the other side we're not fussed which side first, I'm after any recommendations of routes and sites please we like history sight seeing and anything of interest, has anyone got any ideas please? We will be using the Dover Calais ferry. TIA
  6. Hi everyone, I'm in the process of planning a 3 week trip away in the caravan. I have a 2 berth Bessecarr Cameo 495SL which I tow with a Freelander 2 Td4 auto. The plan is to drive from my home in Sussex to Harlech, Wales which is 304 miles and stay for 7 nights. From here move on to a site in the Yorkshire dales which is approximately 190 miles, staying there for 7 nights. Moving on to Norfolk which is 260 miles for 5 nights And then home which is 175 miles Doable, or am I biting off more than I can chew? Advice or suggestions would be much appreciated.

  8. We are looking for ideas. Have been to France for 5 years this time we thought about booking a beach site but we have a twin axle so need a large pitch but don't want one that's full of trees (we've got stuck before and no help from site). Any ideas would be most welcome for a summer family holiday next year. Looking to try Portsmouth to st malo for a change too as never ferried over night. Looking to book as soon as we can, so please send in your ideas
  9. Just looking for some input on whether an ACSI card would be worth it, please. It seems that it only covers a unit and 2 adults - unless you are specifically going to one of their sites that allow up to 3 kids free. Right? So - for example - if I wanted to go to any parks not on *that* list I would pay the published child tariffs on the individual park website. What about Awnings? On the camping card website it states that rates include the awning, but in a discussion on one of the review forums here on CT there is mention of having to pay an extra £4 per night for an awning?
  10. As the caravan is, in my opinion, a substantial purchase I wondered if anyone considered what they felt would be an acceptable amount of days spent touring. When we bought our van in 2011 my husband felt he would be able to get out and about quite frequently. This has not proved to be the case and we are due to make our first outing next week. The first this year. I feel the caravan is spending a lot of time on the yard. What is the break even point for use??? Trace
  11. I can see that pricing a new Eriba Touring is going to be complicated. I've recently noticed that Automotive Leisure reduced their new prices on their website by £1,000 per van, compared to the prices handed out at the NEC. Certainly a £1,000 saving is more than welcome and puts a top of the range Troll in basic format at £17,649. The same van In full house trim, with their upgrade packs and hot water system in the smooth body finish comes in at £21,400. A lot of money but it is the very top of the range in the very top trim. The van we actually want is slightly down from the peak and we'd be happy with the new white bobbly body that reduces the price by £700. It is now priced by AL at £19,960. So I rang Airstream for a price. The basic van is priced at £15,975 and there's a delivery charge of £995, which AL don't charge out separately. That adds up to just under £17,000 and with our central cabinet option that adds a further £400. Then it hit me, I was going to have to go through AL's list of upgrade packs line by line and note down Airstreams prices for each bit. That just wasn't going to happen in a quick phone call. So my attempt at price comparison ground to a halt and Airstream don't seem willing to email me their prices so I can spend time over it.
  12. Hi, we are planning to save money and enjoy our need to not feel "fixed". So any advice about caravan living would be helpful. We live in Cornwall where I have a good job that I want to continue but the caravan will allow us to live in different parts of the area and at the same time save money by living simpler. The long term plan is to spend part of the year touring abroad and look for a plot of land to buy allowing us to create a small creative, healing retreat. We want to avoid anything that may lable us as "travellers", I think everyone has the right to live as they wish as long as doing so is carried out with due regard for others and the environment. So fellow members any comments would be welcome Thanks in anticipation, Ron : )
