  1. Hi everyone, I recently bought an old ABI Ace Airstream 1995 and it didn't come with any manuals. Today I tested the water system with the pump and water tank. When I turned the kitchen tap, water started to flow through the system, but then started pouring from out the back of the van onto the ground outside. I unscrewed the taps and the hoses were not attached to the taps. also the blue wires that seemed to power the tap switch came loose. My questions are: - Only one of the hoses have that white nozzle / connector to so that it connects to the taps underneath, what are these called, and where can I buy one? - Also, I connected the blue wires back to the tap, but now when i turn the tap switch it doesn't ignite the pump like it did the first time before i unscrewed it. Is there a specific way they are supposed to be fitted, like in a certain order? I'm a complete beginner so sorry for the silly questions, but i couldn't find anything in previous posts to tell me how to fix it. Thanks very much! Martin
  2. Hello, i have the Whale Elegance mixer tap, which the spout forever splits and leaks. A replacement is not a problem of getting hold of. Has anyone in this forum ever replaced the whole mixer tap which is plastic to a metal one? If so was it easy to change e.g. are extra fittings required? Thanks and look forward to replies!
  3. I need to access the microswitch in my bathroom tap. I presume that the microswitch has packed up because the pump has suddenly become permanently on when I switch it on at the Zig, also I can't hear a click when I turn the bathroom tap on and I CAN hear a click when I turn the kitchen one on. Trouble is, I can't seem to get to anything. The whole basin is sealed to the wall with no access from underneath, so I presume I need to take the tap head off, but I can't! This is the whole tap head - I take off the middle bit - . ..and I take off the next bit. .. . ..now what the heck do I do??!?! Help!
  4. Has anybody ever tried to convert a Whale Elegance Mixer tap to a shower mixer? Just wondered if it is possible and how easy / difficult it is please?
  5. Hi, I hope I have posted on the right forum! I would like some advice regarding water filters and pipes. We haven't used our caravan for almost three months and this is the first year that it hasn't been used over summer.(we were planning to but did the decorating instead!) Here are my questions. I hope some-one can help. 1; I am wondering if we should take out the inline waterfilter and leave it out until we use the caravan again and put it back in after sterilization. We may not get to use the caravan for another month or so. Today I took out the filter and let the water drain out into the sink, but am now wondering should I put it back or replace it (it was new at Easter) could the water be harbouring anything like legionnaires? If the filter dries out can it be used again anyway? Usually we are able to use the van about every month or so, so haven't had to think about this and just get rid of the filter in winter and replace in spring. 2; Should the taps be left open? I know it is recommended over winter but again I am now thinking of any 'old' water that is likely to be I the system and how bad is it! Also the shower head? 3; Would it be a good idea anyway to sterilize the system before every trip if they are more than a month apart or is once a year o. k? If I am in the wrong place for these questions please advise where best and thanks for anyone who can help!
  6. I'm going to try fitting my new electronic pressure regulator tomorrow, and I was going to use the pressurised wintering kit thing to blast out all the water in the pipes to the taps but then discovered I'd left my 12v tyre inflator at home. I have to disconnect the white pistol shaped Whale pressure sensor/regulator thing which is fixed just inside the caravan close to where the external Truma pump connects. I'm worried that even if I open all the taps and the boiler tap to drain the system, when I disconnect this white pressure switch, I'm going to get a few litres of water inside the caravan. Is this likely? Thanks Mike
  7. Looked around internet for new kitchen tap but can't find one. for my Swift Challenger Anyone know where I can source one . See attached pics. Thanks.
  8. The Whale mixer taps on my 2002 Abbey Expression (Shower and Washbasin) keep seizing up, and one has sheared off when attempting to free it. Usually they free with a bit of force but I would like to stop it happening. Can they be loosened off or lubricated in any way. The one I had to replace last September is sticking already. Thanks.
  9. Hi, I am Berbow saying hello. my problem is that on my Coachman Wanderer 12/2 which has a pressure water system, a full 40l water container, which was filled up prior to settling down for the night would be empty in the morning with the contents in the waste container. Thinking that the taps were not turned off properly I checked the taps two nights running and had to switch the pump off each time we had finished using the water. Trying to track down what was happening I Ieft a bowl in the kitchen sink over night, but there was no water in it in the morning and all the wter was in the waste container again. It was obviously the tap/s in the shower room. Sice returning home I have managed to remove the tap washer mechanism and the washers are flat and only just above the holder. I have tried to obtain washers or new innards with out any luck, from either Caravan Dealers or Plumming Outfits. Can anyone suggest how to over come the problem. We want to use the van in the not to distant future. Thanks in advance
  10. Just got my van out of winter storage and connected all services in front of house. All going smoothly, except for water from taps in bathroom compartment. Only one tap produces water to bathroom sink. How do I get to the pipes to check for loose connections or blockages?
  11. I have waterworks problems and its not an age thing! I set out yesterday with a spring in my step and a spanner in my hand to get our secondhand 1998 Lunar Clubman 475-2 CK ready for the first trip of the year at the weekend and started by trying to flush out the water system with Milton. The taps in the washroom both worked after a few coughs and splutters getting the air out, but not the kitchen sink mixer tap. I then started to investigate and saw that there are two thin white wires hanging down below the kitchen tap but not connected to anything, but then I can't find any obvious wiring into which to connect them. The tap was working fine in October the last time we used the 'van and I can't see any reason than two wires would suddenly detach themselves when the 'van is lying gently overwintering in my front garden. I also notice that the Lunar manual mentions a 'pressure switch' and the wiring diagram shows nothing about connecting microswitches from the taps. So maybe I am misunderstanding something here - if the system is activated by a pressure switch, should the taps be the non-microswitch type? And if so do I assume that someone has incorrectly refitted a micro switch kitchen tap at some stage just to confuse a simple soul like me? Which leads to my final question and that is, if it is a pressure switch system then why do the taps in the bathroom work fine but not the kitchen tap? All answers will be most gratefully received . . . . .
  12. Hi got a leaking tap in the bathroom of my fleetwood heritage 600ES just had a look at it and its cracked tried ding a repiar but still leaking has anyone got one spare to sell or know were i can get one from its a Whale mixer tap in white the van is a 2001 model. many thanks. Alan
