  1. I've read many items relating to mixer taps leaking but none seem to fit my problem. Which is.... This mixer tap - I think is the Carafax L180 (Bailey Ranger Series 5 460/4) - leaks from around the lower central part that swivels (the part with the output spout on). I've taken it apart as much as I can, removed the cartridge, removed and cleaned the rubber insert and cleaned the brass part it fits on to. Put it all back together, tightened the main brass nut and yet it still leaks - not a lot, but enough to be a problem. Could it be that the cartridge is at fault, i.e. would the rubber insert being compressed over the past 12 years, be the cause of this leak? Or is it a case of having to replace the tap as a complete unit? If so, how on earth do I get to the fixing nut that holds the tap in place? I've gone in from the (outside) upper fridge vent and seen where the hot/cold pipes feed onto the tap tails (so they're not an issue to undo); the sink that would give fairly easy access) appears to be fairly rigidly fixed in place by the solvent welded waste pipework. I could remove the waste central screw but it all looks to be pretty solidly gunked up with Plumber's Mate or something similar and I don't really want to disturb this and cause further issues when all put back together. Again, from the outside vent, I can see a metal plate through which the pipes feed through - can this be easily removed (I can see one screw and feel two/three others) - would this be the way in to the base of the tap? Any thoughts, hints or tips would be gratefully received to remedy this problem. Many thanks in advance. Dave
  2. I have been the one and only owner of this brand new 2018 Adria Missouri and wanted to share a few problems I have encountered. 1. Shower room Tap body split leaking under partition wall. 2. Shower was leaking on a push fit piece and leaked under partition wall. 3. After tap was fixed, drain pipe from the shower room sink drain pipe split leaking under partition wall. 4. USB plugs snapped in bedroom, probably my fault if I'm honest, do not try to make the bed with cable in socket, one slight elbow knock and it snapped the socket. 5. Outside water tank locking cover seized and won't lock. 6. Kitchen sink plug snapped it's homing pin in plug. Stuck forever. The caravan has been used quite a bit and came with a good 5 year warranty. But obviously the USB port is not because I did it. The rest listed are not expected within the first 7 or 8 months of ownership. .. anyone else had the same issues? Cheers
  3. The micro switch in the Comet sink mixer tap failed. The van is a 2006 Swift Abbey and is the same tap to this poster http://www. caravantalk. co. uk/community/topic/108382-leaking-kitchen-tap-swift/ I spent quite some time identifying the tap and ordered a new microswitch. The lever came off easily by simply removing a blanking plug and using a 2. 5mm Hex Key. I couldn't get the microswitch wires to pull through the tap and I learn that one has to dismantle the whole tap. The water pipe connections are behind the cooker and whilst one San feel them, the cooker needs to come out to get to them, I had the cooker out a few months ago to replace a thermo coupler, didn't particularly want to take it out again. Looking at the tap, presumably the 29mm nut needs to be undone to get to the cartridge insert. It looks a bit tight, but I've taken a chance and ordered a 30mm Box Spanner. Has anyone had one of these taps apart and am I on the right track ?
  4. Hello all, This is my first posting so hi to everyone and I need to ask a question! We recently bought an Elddis Supreme 2 berth caravan which is a dealer special based on the Avante. The question I have is on the external gas tap connector. On our previous caravan a 2 berth Swift the bbq point was a quick release type and I thought the point on our new an was identical. How wrong was I ? It looks the same, but it won't push up and there is insufficient room to connect our existing pigtail into it even if it did push up as there is not enough room as the bottom of the housing is in the way. I am completely mystified! I am obviously missing something completely or it has been fitted incorrectly. As the dealer we purchased from is up north a good 4 hours away I'm not quite sure how to proceed with resolving this! Any ideas fellow caravanners? All answers gratefully received! K 😳
  5. Looked around internet for new kitchen tap but can't find one. for my Swift Challenger Anyone know where I can source one . See attached pics. Thanks.
  6. Folks could do with others thoughts on this one. I've bought a 2005 Sterling Europa 540 and just returned from my first long weekend away with it. The hot water is giving me grief to say the least I fill the water barrel, close the drain tap and turn on pump allowing the on board Truma Ultrastore heater to fill completely then open both the cold and hot taps and wait until all air is expelled and water flowing with no gurgles or glugs. Water seems to heat up just fine but each day I would experience only air and sputtering going on when opening the hot tap. At that time I could open the cold and all seems fine. Plenty of water in barrel and no air entering cold system. Any thoughts please with what could be occurring here would be appreciated . . Cheers John
  7. Hi wonder if anyone knows (van in storage) what make of tap the Adria's use in the bathroom sink. We had a bit of a leak at weekend and not sure if it needs simply tightening or as some other tap issues I have read about, a whole new tap. Thought originally it was simply tap too upright and dripping back down on itself but seems it is leaking from base possibly (tricky to tell)
  8. Another job I'm working on - the bathroom tap doesn't work. It's this type: First, any idea how to get the tap (knob part) off? I expected to unscrew a nut underneath, but there is none. I take it some part of the top comes off, but I can't see what and don't want to force anything and break it. Second, unlike the similar kitchen tap, there is no 'click' from the bathroom tap - does that mean the microswitch is broken? Third, to complicate matters, my basic multimeter (which only reads whole volts) is showing 5v on the input wires. Is that right? I had assumed it'd be a 12v circuit. Any help gratefully received!
  9. The screw-in tap head in our Cristall Moorea needs replacing, which is simple enough. However, I realised during our jollies last week that there are further problems with the tap unit. We have water leaking from the seal where the tap meets the sink (sorry, I'm not the most technical!) and even more worryingly, we noticed that when the tap is running, we can see water dripping on the outside from the bottom of the wall of the van. I'm hoping that buying a new tap unit will do the trick, but would like advice about how easy it is to remove and replace the unit. Thanks Ceri
  10. hi all i hope someone can help i've got a 1997 lunar solar. it has an exteral whale high flow pump and a whale prssure switch. crystal filter also fitted. i'm now on my 4th pump! i purchased a reich 19L. after changing the one way cold valve i worked out that the pump was faulty! took it back and puchased a crystal 12l pump. although vastly improved the pressure still wasnt great so i kept this as spare and purchased a whale high flow pump and assembly. this was no better. figured i had another faulty pump so changed it for a new whale high flow. bingo, i had acceptable pressure. however, its not great still. whilst it's useable the kitchen tap is slow and the whale shower head has just about enough pressure - as you raise it above youor head it gets really slow but works. my friend has a longer van with all the same kit and he gets great pressure. Surely I haven't got another faulty pump? Any ideas welcome.
  11. Before I start breaking stuff, I need some guidance on fitting a new tap to my Elddis Typhoon. The current one is a Whale Elite, and has a crack in the base. To access under it I'll need to get the sink out, or I can get to it from via the outer upper fridge grill (if a heat shield can be removed). The sink is held in by a rubber seal, and the only visable screw is in the plug hole. The heat shield at the back of the fidge seems to get clipped together, though it's not clear if it can be removed from the outside. As the current tap has split I'm keen to look at fitting a metal one instead of the plastic one. So. . How does the sink come out, and or how do the heat grills come out. And are these Whale taps prone to cracks, and are metal ones better? Any help on this would be great. Many thanks.
