  1. Are there any Cruiser owners who use their Sky box in their caravan? The very small TV shelf on the right of the entry door does not seem to be wide enough to take the standard Sky box. The only logical place that I can see is in the cupboard above the microwave. Has anyone found a good solution to this? We currently have the Affinity 530 which has almost a dedicated AV cupboard, so we have been a bit spoilt. Cheers. Alistair
  2. Is it possible to access UK TV with a satellite dish in Brittany, northern France?

  5. Why do Berker and CBE not make HDMI sockets? As TV is a big thing now in caravans, with satellite domes etc. , I would have thought that the component manufacturers would have given thought to matching HDMI sockets. In our new Cruiser, we will be putting the Sky box in the cupboard above the microwave. As Elddis have given absolutely no thought to cable management, I will remove the 12v socket below the drinks cabinet and fit an HDMI socket in its place that runs an HDMI cable directly to the back of the TV. I have adapted an idea from Sparkie240. I ordered a Berker coax socket and a HDMI pass through socket from the web. I removed the coax fitting from the Berker socket and threw it away. Using a Dremmel I enlarged the hole in the socket to accommodate the HDMI pass through socket, and drilled a hole for the Magic Eye cable to pass through. I bought a brand new Sky HD Multiroom box for £30 on Ebay, together with an RF Out replicator to allow the use of the magic eye. It should be a nice neat job when completed.

  8. Just an update from SIL living quite near Almeria in South Eastern Spain. With the loss of the FTA channels like BBC, ITV etc, he had (a year ago) manufactured a GRP 1. 9 m petal type dish. It did not make much difference but today he bought and fitted a 1. 8m thick famaval dish. Now he gets all the Sky channels that he would get in the UK. For caravanners, this is of no help because the dish is big, heavy and set in a big concrete foundation. Not exactly portable. Now my grandchildren have got Cbeebies back! Peace!
  9. Hi all We have a 2015 Coachman VIP 560. We were on a site where the terrestrial TV signal was not brilliant, so decided to set up the satellite dish to watch the rugby (wish I hadn't bothered) but thats another story. Got it all working by running cable through the door to start with, then decided to use the external satellite connection; nothing, no signal at all. I tested both cables and they were fine on their own, but when using the external connection, nothing. Am I doing something wrong, or is the Coachman system faulty?
  10. Noticed in Aldi today. Satellite dish, HD satellite receiver, HDMI cable, remote and sat finder for £59. 99. No tripod but next to it were Y type clothes driers.
  11. Hi, I've just joined your excellent forum and hope to be able offer support to you if you have satellite TV related questions. I'll also let you know when we have great deals available as and when they come up. I wanted to put some deals together for Caravan Talk forum members right away so I've put some offers together and will post later today in the Deals/Special Offers forum. We specialise in satellite kits for caravanners which range from standard non Easyfind to Premium Easyfind HD kits. If you think we can help with any needs that you have, feel free to 'pm' me. All the best, Darren.
  12. I use my Sky+ box from home in the van. It takes the signal from twin LNB Maxview dish. I have been putting the twin satellite aerial through the window, but now want to build in a sat aerial socket. In my Pageant, I can take the twin lead into the battery box, under the bed and up the inside to where I have space heater control, 240V socket and a 12V/normal TV aerial socket. I want to remove this latter socket and fit a twin f-connector socket. The trouble is that the Bailey sockets are black and eBay seems only to show white. It would be nice to fit a black socket if anyone knows of one? Also eBay lists a separate special weather-proof caravan socket for mounting sockets, so I could use that instead of entering via the battery box. Anyone used one of these external sockets and advice would help. I don't want to alter the future resale value of my van!
  13. Hello All, I am looking at buying a new satellite dish for use in the van mainly for Europe as the built in status aerial seems to work pretty well in the U. K. (so far). I have a few queries though, so bear with me. I currently have a multimo dish that was given to me by the inlaws however I believe that this won't work to well across the channel. From what I understand, I won't be able to pick up the mainstream channels such as bbc and itv unless I have a huge dish but might be able to pick up some of the sky channels if I bring my box and viewing card from home. The alternative is to get a free to air box but is there anything in English to watch when in Europe or is mainly for news? With regards to dishes, would I be wasting my time with say a 66cm maxview dish or do I need a huge 85cm in which case I can only see that this can be fitted to the roof as it would be difficult / awkward to carry. I was looking at the quicksat dish but that seems to have bad reviews on here and other websites. Thanks in advance and any guidance or info would be greatly received.
  14. I was fortunate enough to go Le Mans for the 24hr this year and as usual we took a different vehicle with us! As the British Lions were playing Australia and we like to follow the race on Eurosport whilst not next to the track we slapped up a Sky Dish - bought off EBay brand new, with quad LNB, 10m twin cable and delivered for £17!!!!! (Bargin) - and the while process of alignment took at 35 seconds using nothing more than that's about the right direction. Sky HD box attached and HDMI to the 42" LCD and we were away. Pictures can be seen in the gallery: http://www. caravantalk. co. uk/community/gallery/image/7348-image/ We had no EHU so power came from a suitcase Honda genny. Can't wait for next years race and project vehicle!
