I have just purchased a Coachman Mirage 440/5 where the previous owner cut the cables in the Battery storage box. Need help to find diagrams/instuctions etc to know how to connect mains and the battery. Hope someone out there can point me in the right direction.

Apols if this kicks off a bit of an emotive response, but driving down the A34 south of Newbury today for circa 20 miles & saw 3 vehicles towing vans without mirrors. The worst being a massive hobby prestige twin axle (looked like 8ft wide) being towed by a series 2 discovery. Then again, not sure whether that was worse than a single axle being towed by a crv and no mirrors. I'm not for knocking people at all, but its about time things like that have on the spot fines, as in Europe, as its probably the only thing that will change behaviours. As a balance to this, were were lots

I've recently bought a new fire extinguisher for my 1982 Avondale and fitted the bracket it came with to a nice solid bit of wall. After travelling around 50 miles I found the extinguisher rolling around on the floor. It seems that the extinguishers pops out of the bracket with any little jolt. I've noticed that Australian camper vans some have a small recess for the fire extinguisher. Is this an option available in the UK? I can't find anyone selling anything like it. Where is the best position for the extinguisher?

Good Morning! My name is Mano, I go to Hogeschool in the Hague, I’ve alreadly asked Dutch people about caravan safety so now I want to ask you! For my school project, I’m doing a research to find out whether people prefer: a smart smoke detector or smart CO detector. Take part in my research and answer 9 multiple-choice questions or forward it on to your friends, see the link below. Cheers! https://goo. gl/forms/Byz2wEN6RsB1E1uy2 Admin comment: This member did ask permission before posting his link, and we did verify it prior to this it being added to the forum

How to wrap a cable. http://youtube/0yPcJD7RVuY its a shame to spoil one of the great pastimes of caravanning - watching someone try to untangle their leccy cable when they are setting up. Second only to watching someone putting an awning up for the first time, the cable tangle tango is a leading contender for on site entertainment. If you work in the video or music industry this is the first thing you have to learn - how to wrap cables so that they unravel easily. It's an easy thing to learn and once you have the knack, you will feel a smug satisfaction as you carelessly throw your

There is no doubt that a multimeter when used correctly can assist in finding faults in a lot of situations, caravans being one of them. However it should be noted that most of those on the market come with plain unfused leads and often with a length of about 10mm of bare metal as the probe. Best industry practice would be to use fused leads (except for current measurement) with more fully shrouded ends where only about 2 mm of bare metal is exposed. Though the meter should have an internal fuse the better leads will provide a higher degree of safety When purchasing such devices I

Hi, I hope I have posted on the right forum! I would like some advice regarding water filters and pipes. We haven't used our caravan for almost three months and this is the first year that it hasn't been used over summer.(we were planning to but did the decorating instead!) Here are my questions. I hope some-one can help. 1; I am wondering if we should take out the inline waterfilter and leave it out until we use the caravan again and put it back in after sterilization. We may not get to use the caravan for another month or so. Today I took out the filter and let the water drain out i

We have only been into caravanning for three years, but looked at rallying early on as a cheap form of being off grid in our van. And even in three years it is obvious that this thing - rallying, is not being taken up by the next generation. We are in the C&CC and itsa not very promoted on their site either, you have to dig a bit to get to it. I used to run a business, and half price site fees are a bonus. So whats going on here? It seems to me the commercialisation of popping your unit down is getting stymied. Unless you rally. We have only had one bad experience of rallyin

I always check my car and caravan tyres when cold but is there a range of temperatures that this covers. Checking the tyres on a winters day when the outside temperature is close to freezing will change the pressure dramatically if taken to a summer climate where the temperature is closer to 25 degrees C. I have never seen any recommendations regarding a scale of PSI difference against temperature. I know the pressure increases when the car is driven and the tyres warm up due to friction so there is the possibility of setting your tyres when very cold and having them overinflated when the w

I have managed to talk the wife into buying me one of these for Christmas she cant understand why I want one and I have explained to her as we do not load the van the same everytime we go away we need to know our weight. I have read the good and bad reviews on these but feel it will add to our safety which you can not put a cost on. Was going to buy from Halfords at 134. 99 but Ropers who are just down the road from us said they would match the price which is brill.

Hi, This thought has crossed my mind ( two in one day ! ) if, as has been drummed into us ( and rightly so ) that the hard shoulder on motorways is a very dangerous place with cars / lorries passing at 70+ m. p. h. why are lay byes on duel carriageways considered O. K. ? After all the traffic passes at 70+ m. p. h. just the same, try winding down the O/S steadies in a lay bye with the traffic just inches away ! what's your thoughts ? david 1220
