  1. Hi! New to the world of owning a caravan. We picked up a retro Monza a fortnight ago and are in the process of stripping it out and completely restoring it o take on honeymoon in August. Having trouble finding replacement aluminium trim and seals. Not sure what the correct terminology is for searching for them. Need to replace all aluminium rails that join the bodywork and replace all the seals. Any advice would be much appreciated! Not sure of the year but it's a Monza model M1000 Thanks
  2. i was stopped by a certain constable whose reason for pulling me over was that 1. my empty aframe mounted gas box had no cover. (it got damaged). when that point was cleared up, 2. it was pointed out that with a van my size (450) i needed marker lights or side illumination as he called it. 3. The third point was that my van didn't have its vin (???) number on the windows. 4. i had a stick on "show" number plate on the van and a matching halfords plate affixed to the rear window. my reponses 1. its empty and there is nothing loose to detach. 2. its currently legal as it was legal at the time of manufacture (like seatbelt less cars and flip out indicators) 3. its not a legal requirement and my personal preference NOT to have it done. 4. i would remove the stick on plate if required as there are no secure fixing points for a number plate and its better to have two matching plates than two different ones or none i was waiing for the offer of paying for the fuel to take the 40 mile round trip to the weigh station but that didnt arise. nor the fact that i didnt have reversing lights as i was told by a CS owner recently. i got "let off" with words of advice about showing two number plates and no speed limit sticker.
  3. It's a 2+2 rear double, front single bunk bed van. No makers name visible or anything . Thanks
  4. Hello Im new to caravans I have wanted one for ages but the cost of a caravan has been beyond my reach with a young family, we now finally have a 1979 fibreline and we are over the moon with it and have been busy tidying it up as it was covered in decals and was pretty filthy I have a few questions if anybody would be so kind as to help 1. I appear to have some damp/soft wood around one of the windows I have replaced the rubber as this was all cracked and broken, is it a big job that could potentially damage the van should I try and cut this out. 2. there is a small hole in the floor where the door has not been shutting properly again as above should I just cut this out there is a hollow between the the whole and then the fiberglass underneath I take it these are not structural or safety issues as the rest of the van is in tip top condition, remarkable when its age is taken into account. 3. I need some spares the water heater knob is missing its a main nymph any ideas? and also a door hinge 4. Why do these vans seem so collectible I was almost gifted mine and after looking they seem to go for quite a lot I have no intention of getting rid of it but im suprised at the value. 5. I have the original occupiers handbook should anybody want a copy I hope I haven't run on to much and thanks in advance.
