Can anyone give me their direct experience of filling refillable gas cylinders (Gaslow, Safefill etc..) whilst abroad, without having a dedicated fixed filling point. i.e. taking the cylinders out of a caravan or motorhome to get them filled. I have read of users being able to do this, but also some being refused in France and in Spain. If you do this, what has been your experience? I am particularly interested in other countries like Italy, Germany, Croatia and the Scandanavian countries. Thanks Simon
It has been reported on various topics to do with the Alde system that there are restrictions as to the gas that can be used. In particular that the use of refillable cylinders invalidated the warranty. I therefore contacted them with the following question. It has been reported on a Caravan Forum that if I change to refillable gas cylinders for my caravan then you would not honour my warranty as the gas from an autogas centre is unsuitable. The centre tells me this is rubbish and the gas complies with all british specifications. Can you advise me please before I spend the money. Their reply nails this myth once and for all. Sir, Thank you for your enquiry. Indeed, there's no such condition on the Alde manufacturer's warranty, although we cannot vouch for the warranty supplied by the seller of your vehicle. Much like butane, some Autogas mixes can perform poorly in certain climates and altitudes, but this does not invalidate our warranty. Regards, Alde UK Team Hope this is of use to all readers
