  1. Hi all, Apologies for my first post being a cry for help, but I'm hoping that some of you might share your thoughts on how I might proceed in my situation. Thanks in advance for any help you can give, it's much appreciated! Background: I have a 2016 Bailey Pursuit 540/5 which I've had from new. Due to some stupidity/forgetfulness/hard times on my part, I managed to miss a service a couple of years back, so it's out of warranty. I've kicked myself a lot about that, trust me. The van has seemed 100% fine until this recent service - the dealers have found damp in the floor at the rear, my nightmare. They say that some is caused by a leaky toilet cassette hatch - there have been very small mould blooms on the vinyl near the loo but I thought that was caused by a damp mat I missed when the basin tap was leaking slightly on a long trip. Another mistake!! I'm struggling to see where that leak is happening, but I've replaced the seal and resealed the join to the caravan wall. The rest they think is caused by the dreaded Bailey roof strap. When I first read about this (I lurk on forums, sorry!) I checked for any signs of ingress and found none. I slathered the strap ends with tons of sealant just as a precaution. I haven't seen any signs of damp, either inside or on the underside of the van. I check it regularly, and use a moisture meter, so I was surprised by the strap news. However, when I went and checked under the vinyl under the bottom bunk yesterday, it's black. I'm gutted. My quote from the dealers is to - replace the roof strap, take out the furnishings at the back end (whole bathroom and bottom bunk), lift the vinyl, dry out and replace the floor, rebuild. My questions to you all are: - The floor is black, but seems solid enough. Do you think the floor really needs replaced? - Would the floor dry out naturally if the ingress is stopped? Or does the vinyl need to be lifted? - How can I effectively check between the floor and the vinyl for damp in future? There has been no smell and no elevated moisture readings (guess the dealers have a better way of checking) - Would you spend the £3K+ getting the dealers to completely redo the backend (as it's out of warranty) or ask them to sort the roof strap only and try to dry out the van yourself? - Or even, would you try and fix the roof strap yourselves? Thanks again for any thoughts/guidance you may have.
  2. Do you want a laugh? Just received a letter from Bailey, via our dealer. It is accompanied by a new weight plate with a reduced MTPLM, and a matching new Certificate of Compliance. So I now have three of each, and not forgetting the fourth plate in the gas locker. 1) MTPLM 1374kg (The original brochure value, and I purchased a spare weight plate at that value, should anyone need the lower weight for their licence restrictions) 2) MTPLM 1500kg (I got the upgrade included in the deal) 3) MTPLM 1450kg (Now Bailey have downgraded my upgrade, and now consistent with the Al-Ko axle rating) 4) MTPLM 1500kg (displayed in the gas locker) I now have side stickers and matching NCC Certificates of Compliance for all three different weights. None of which are consistent with the EC Certificate of Conformity. The letter suggests the error was due to technical information supplied to them (presumably by Al-Ko) being incorrect (really?) You couldn't make it up . .. What a ***** muddle Shame, the caravan remains as faultless as ever. Looks like the Nespresso Lattissima might have to stay at home though. ..
  3. Please can somebody help ? I’m just in the process of buying a used Bailey Pursuit from a repretable dealer on handover I have noticed a big black patch of furry mould on the wood above the front window where the curtain track is. Has anybody had anything similar and able to shed any light on it ? Also the dealer is trying to fob me off saying it’s nothing it wipes off so after long arguments he put a damp tester on it and the machine read 169 ? Does anybody know what this means any advice would be much appreciated.
  4. Thought I would post, for the sake of balance, when folk usually only post bad news. The Pursuit 550-4 has had it's first service today. It was delivered faultless and has performed faultlessly over the last 12 months, with 50+ nights away and 3000+ miles of effortless towing behind a C-class estate. Nothing has broken or fallen off, everything functions perfectly, and it is dry as the Mojave dessert. However, the service engineer found three faults. 1. The number plate (supplied by me) doesn't have a BS type approval stamp. 2. The bathroom light pull-cord was missing (I had removed it) 3. The spare was 4psi down on recommended. Should I reject the van ?

  6. Bailey Pursuit 550/4 – Fridge Door Anybody had wrong info given by Bailey Customer Service Ordered caravan in February this year. It was to be built in mid May and delivered at end of May. Realised that fridge door would get damaged by the oven door as it opened into the kitchen area and towards the oven. 1. Pointed this out to Bailey and suggested that the fridge door be changed to right hand hung. 2. They replied that door could not be changed 3. I pointed out that a Bailey Madrid had the same fridge but the door was hung right handed 4. Bailey said the Pursuit fridge is a wheel arch model and the one in the Unicorn is not 5. I responded by pointing out (with photos) that the fridge positions are the same 6. Bailey said “the guts of the fridge wiring, lighting etc is different) 7. I wrote to the fridge manufacturer – Dometic- and they confirmed that a right handed door fridge could be installed – sent copy to Bailey 8. Bailey have now said that a right handed fridge door can be installed but that I would have to buy a complete new fridge Bailey customer services have been giving me false information and the service they have provided has been terrible Used caravan for first time and of course the fridge door has been damaged by oven door. Fixed door stop to floor so that no further damage will occur, this is unsightly Bailey have been most unhelpful and I am very dissappointed
