Interested to find out the effects of the Alde circulation pump on the state of a caravan battery when using the heating off grid. Is there a high current draw by the pump? Obviously gas is providing the energy for the heat but the pump runs off the battery.
Hi all, I have had a dream of living off the land in a home built by myself, raising fostered or adopted children since I was a kid! Finally decided I've had enough of trying to save for a house I can't afford on my own and am very excited by Tiny Houses. I would like to occupy one on a small holding, living off grid and being as self sufficient as possible. I'm looking for like minded souls in the hope that I can set up a small community campsite with an emphasis on self sufficient life that will give back to the environment and community. My idea is for a 5 pitch FCC licensed site that is set on enough ground to accommodate a conservation "farm" of rare produce breeds, bees, grown produce and manufactured produce. The site will be entirely off grid with only drinking water and waste disposal provided via as environmentally friendly method as possible. Filtered rain water and composting waste perhaps?
Hi All, We have just spent the may day bank holiday at Stoneleigh Kit Car show at Stoneleigh Park in our Caravan, taking our new one for the first time and I must say it absolutely rocked!!! We set up on a little hardstanding out of the way - no hook ups at all on site so it's basically pick a spot of grass or concrete and make yourselves at home - We had a great view of the sunset over the duck pond and a lovely level spot so we started setting up. Fridge Ice Cold on Gas - check Solar Panel charging - check Hot and cold running water - check Centrally controlled heating - check toilet that flushes - check music while we chill out - check Lots of lights - check Telly running on an inverter - check! Not to mention lovely memory foam transverse island bed and shower bigger than the one in my house (and no spiders!!!) We were worried that with the horrible weather something would have to give but we were blown away, we last went to stoneleigh in an older van with no solar panel and had to buy a new 110amp battery, the time before that we bought a new but empty gas bottle so we were expecting some niggles. . Not a single one! We can't wait to try somehwere "off grid" again after seeing how well the caravan did - Stoneleigh is a fantastic place though - we'll be checking the calendar to see what else happens there. . unlimited dog walking areas - when the show is on there is a funfair, burger, booze and pancake vans - lots and lots of car spares and shops and the cars themselves but still the peace and quiet back at the van when you need it! So have you guys been mega impressed with a venue that showed your caravan's true potential? I'd love to hear about it if you have. . LLAP Mandy
