Hi 👋, We purchased an Elddis Crusader Mistral 2015 a while ago, and while the transverse Island bed is great, it's a little snug at the bottom when you're in and out of the loo or side wardrobe. We are looking at perhaps seeing if we can purchase the sliding bed frame that would allow for the shorter mattress with bolster in order to add a few more inches of space to walk around. Has anyone done this successfully? Can't seem to find anything online of anyone attempting this or similar. Any advice would be greatly appreciated 😊
Hi, i have an elddis mistral 2016, towed by a Mondeo 09, my issue is, as soon as i get to 50mph ish then the van is quite unstable. is this an elddis common issue? here is a few of the facts and corrections i have tried so far, i religiously weigh my outfits aprox once a year on a weigh bridge. i previously had an avondale eagle 08, weighing in at 1500kg max, with the same car, never had any towing issues at all, rock solid though i did have to fit alko shocks. never been an issue. now with the elddis, weighing in at 1550, again weigh bridge tested, car is in at 1750kg, both loaded ready to go, fuel, passengers etc. . my lowest nose weight required is 80kg ( milenco tested ) and im now at 81 ish, to get this i can only have a gas bottle in the locker, the awning has to go in the car on the back seat to help the rear end sag, and im out of payload on the van, there is a solar planel on the roof above the axle, and a motor mover in front of the axle, shocks also fitted, atc is on but never felt it yet ? i have nothing in the rear bathroom, my chairs, elec cable etc are under the bed due to nose weight issues. nothing in the overhead lockers apart from bread and crisps lol as soon as i get to 50mph its all over the place, really unstable,, i know some might say well just stick to 50, but if i had to manoeuvre sharply then its all over !!! i have no more weight shifting allowance, i cant reduce any more than i already have. am i missing something ? if its the car then it was ok on the last van and nothing has changed? would mad springs make a difference? i honnestly cant think of any thing else, any advise would be gratefully appreciated. , many thanks,,, dan, ( sorry for the essay )
Hello All, I am a Semi-Newbie. Have had a van for 6 yrs but only towed it for 250 miles in that time, so my knowledge is somewhat limited. My little 1991 Mistral GTX is a great luxurious van, but I never really had time to use it. Am now going to take up caravanning properly, and as my daughter is now 15 (and even taller than my wife), the 2 berth Mistral is getting a bit too cramped, so regretably it has to go. As I am about to splash out on a new or nearly new van, I thought I would research the subject first, especially as I will also have to buy a new car to tow it with. In the process came across this superb site. These last few days I have obtained much valuable info, from both this and other sites. The more I find out, the more I realise how little I know, so I will looking forward to reading your postings (and maybe even starting the odd thread too). Hope I can contribute to this site in a positive way. Cheers, Geo.
