We bought a new swift 554 last year and in getting it home couldn’t lock it. The key wouldn’t turn or come out of the lock and we could get the pins to engage when inside the van. We rang the dealer and they sent a new barrel and we got an engineer out. The engineer replaced the barrel and we had a week away in the van. The dealer also sent a second lock by mistake which we kept just in case. We came to pack the van again this year the same thing happened. Luckily we were able to change the barrel with the spare and go away. We spoke to the dealer who has washed their hands of the matter. The can is still under warranty. A van that won’t lock is useless in my view. They won’t sent another spare barrel just in case. This seems to be a current theme with Swift. Any one else having similar problems?

Just returned to caravanning after 25 years and bought a lovely used Bailey Pegasus Rimini All is great apart from the barrel of the lock to the 'wet' locker, which pulls out and even when its pushed in doesnt seem to turn the lock On the inside of the door, directly behanind the lock is a small panel with what appears to be a keyhole in it I was going to look in to see if a securing clip may have come away, but dont want to break it if a key is required Anyone experienced this? Solutions?

Hi I have an elddis affinity 540 2013. And I'm struggling to find what type of hitch lock to buy. My insurance haven't stated that i need a certain lock so I'm Thinking something relatively cheap as also the place where I'm going to keep it has one way in and out cctv, key lock gate and a vehicle parked In front of the gate every night. I am thinking maybe a bulldog or a milenco. Cheers guys what's your thoughts

Hi, I am preparing to take my Bailey Senator Vermont (2 berth) abroad and I want to add additional and visible door security. The products I have identified on the market all require a clearance in excess of 100mm to the side of the door in order to secure the lock. Unfortunately the Vermont does not have anything like the clearance required and I am stumped on what alternatives there are or have any other Bailey owners overcome this issue in some other way. Posted this in the members area but think I should have posted it here. Caravan keys lost along with car keys, lock smith has car and house sorted but our Bailey caravan is fitted with a Caraloc 2000 complete with security lock. Lock Smith suggest that we buy a new Caraloc 2000 and security barrel and then he will fit it as he fears that when he drills out the old barrel he might damage the Caraloc 2000. Been ringing around here in Ireland and I can't find anyone that has a Caraloc 2000 or a security barrel in stock. We are going to France at the end of the month and need to sort this out, any of the shops I have called say that they should have one in by Wednesday but what if they don't. Also do I need a left hand lock of right hand lock? Door opens out from right to left but to lock the door with the key from the outside you turn the key to the right. I thoughts are to phone a shop in the Uk and order the parts and pay to get DHL to deliver next day, I know it might cost a little more but I should have them in time for the lock smith to fit them before we go off to France. So what shops would you trust and you think they should have what I need? Thanks Dale

Cars have had central locking systems for quite a few years now and most work at the 'blip' of a button on a remote control. This also arms or dis-arms the car alarm/immobiliser. Many caravans now have alarms systems which are activated in a similar manner. Why can't they similarly link this to a remote central locking system for caravans. It should lock all the doors and lockers simultaneously, just like on a car. Has no one thought of this before?

I'd just like to put on record the excellent help that I have just received over the telephone from West Alloy who make among many other items, the locks for many front gas lockers in caravans. I had a crazy issue with my lock not functioning as designed and they resolve it over the telephone immediately.
