  1. We have an old static caravan left in our garden when we bought our house (20 years ago), I have no idea of the age or model but if it helps to date it it had gas lighting! The roof has had storm damage from trees and I have made repairs with silicon and aluminium sheet; but last winter I noticed another leak at the rear of the caravan and cannot track down where the water is getting in. Does anyone know who can carry out repairs to these types of lightweight roofs? we are in Suffolk. thanks.
  2. Hi there, I have a Swift Accord 590 model 2007. It had a leak at the back window. I had to totally remove the whole rear panel on the inside as well as the furniture, replace the rotten wood and rebuild it. I found nails and screws in the rear plastic panel that had split the plastic from it’s original manufacturing and assumed this was the source of the leak. This was on the screws attaching the rear window and also Under the awning rail. I removed and resealed the awning rail. All of this took me a year and lots of Sikaflex. When it rained there was no leaking into the c
  3. Calling on Elddis van owner to check the seals around the battery box and under bunk external access compartment as the seal on my van has failed and flooded the inside of the van. The fact that it's on 2 compartments suggest it's the fixing material not a poor installation, in my opinion, but I was surprised that there are no fixing screws securing the frames to the body of the van. The picture is taken looking down the outside of the van from above the compartment.
  4. Hi there, we have had quite a bit of rain overnight and water is dripping into the van from the window over the sink. Not had this before, had the van 18 months. The leak stopped shortly after the rain stopped. The rain was on the affected side of the van. When the rain started again the leak started again almost straight away. When it was not raining I raised the fly screen and a section of it was wet, see pic. Vid of the leak, pic of the fly screen and top of external side of the window are below. Would I be able to put a sealant on the outside of the
  5. I have lived in the USA for 15 years and was a keen RVer having owned 5 over the years, all in various states of repair/preservation and during the process of refurbishment, I cam across this product which is widely available in the States and non-existent in the UK (or appears so) It's an adhesive tape that is loaded with a very, very sticky sealant and is used to cover the seams on motorhome roofs. You dry the seam, clean it with meths and then apply the tape and finish off with a wallpaper roller. The adhesive is pressure activated. I have used it on fibreglass, metal and EPDM ro
  6. I have been the one and only owner of this brand new 2018 Adria Missouri and wanted to share a few problems I have encountered. 1. Shower room Tap body split leaking under partition wall. 2. Shower was leaking on a push fit piece and leaked under partition wall. 3. After tap was fixed, drain pipe from the shower room sink drain pipe split leaking under partition wall. 4. USB plugs snapped in bedroom, probably my fault if I'm honest, do not try to make the bed with cable in socket, one slight elbow knock and it snapped the socket. 5. Outside water tank
  7. Yet another niggle about the "Kazi" Picture this, first night of our holiday, pitched at the farthest end of the site, toilet block is a 10 min walk (OK I exaggerate 9 mins) and what happens. .... My lovely Dometic loo starts to pour pink flush water all over the floor from the blade when I flushed after my ablutions. Great being as it was nearly midnight and spent the next half an hour mopping up! So the next morning I go about trying to find out where leak was coming from, I couldn't find it for love nor money. Checked online in the forums & Google, very little
  8. We have a mystery leak on our 17 yr old Rapido pop top. Given enough rain, the inside of the front nearside corner gets soggy and there can even be water on the shelf. I've marked the area in red here The window was replaced by our dealer under guarantee, albeit reluctantly, when the original de-laminated within months of our buying. We used Eeco in Halifax. The problem started after that. I've stopped trusting the dealer & we're out of guarantee period anyway, so our local engineer identified that the window rubber seal had a gap in it, and he replaced that. No difference.
  9. We bought a Kampa Pro Air 390 the year before last. Used it many times. The common problem of the leaking seam next to the awning rail has stopped after a few soakings have swelled the thread. Now we've got water coming in through several other seams, so I've bought some Kampa seam sealant to fix them. A few questions for anyone who's done this before: - is it best to apply the sealant with the awning up or down? - does it work? - Is one tube likely to be enough? - is it worth applying any proofing to the rest of the fabric while I'm at it? If so, any recomm

  11. The screw-in tap head in our Cristall Moorea needs replacing, which is simple enough. However, I realised during our jollies last week that there are further problems with the tap unit. We have water leaking from the seal where the tap meets the sink (sorry, I'm not the most technical!) and even more worryingly, we noticed that when the tap is running, we can see water dripping on the outside from the bottom of the wall of the van. I'm hoping that buying a new tap unit will do the trick, but would like advice about how easy it is to remove and replace the unit. Thanks Ceri
  12. Hi, can anyone offer advice on how to deal with a Vendee S5 2005 that is leaking rainwater into the front locker from under the front windows. I am not too concerned that rainwater is leaking onto the front locker plastic/resin floor, but very concerned that the woodwork inside the front panel may be rotting. It appears that the water is tracking down inside the two vertical window frames that separate the three front windows. Could the rainwater ingression be though the window hinges at the top of the windows or is it possibly more serious and the ingression be through the roof
  13. Hi All, I'm hoping that someone can help me quickly get to the root of a problem I've found since getting the trusty old girl ready for our first holiday of the year next week. The Van: Bessacarr Cameo 420 SL- 92/93 Vintage The Problem: The water heater started leaking badly when I pressurised the system yesterday. On closer inspection, it had been the subject of one of the previous owners' now infamous "repairs". The plastic spigot/inlet at the bottom of the unit had obviously leaked at the joint in the past, and someone had e-poxyed it, finishing the job nicely with several wind
  14. I have a Swift 580 Lux built in 2001. It has an internal water tank which leaks when its about full. I have not had time to remove the tank protective cover on the underside of the caravan to see where the leak is coming from yet. I have checked the pump housing and fittingsunder the bed box and it is dry. The drain pipe fitting is also ok. Any ideas before I remove the cover to investigate?
  15. Hi all, The electric flush on our Thetford 250 stopped working over the weekend (Bailey Pageant Bretagne 2009). Perhaps coincidentally, this was immediately following an 'incident' where eldest childling didn't know that I was in the process of re-fitting the tank. .. I checked the fuse inside the compartment and it was intact but the blades looked to be 'furred'. I replaced the fuse and still no joy. I thought that the contacts into which the fuse goes just also have been furred up and had nothing to hand to try and clean them with so I snipped off the wires (can re-crimp them later) and t
  16. Just had some friends round and they had a look in our Bailey Orion and while in there I noticed the floor to one side of the toilet was a bit wet. There was no sign of any water or marks higher up so think it must be a faulty seal on the outer door of the toilet. The caravan was sloping down towards the front so as the water was forward of toilet I think this is probable. I have only had the van less than 3 months although it is 15 months old and has a full one year manufacturers warranty so is this something I can do myself or should it go back to the dealer. I will check when it is ligh
  17. Hi all, Has anyone ever had a leak from their pump inside the van. We have had water in the front offside locker of our Orion, but I cannot see any sign of it coming from outside. Apparently on the day that it happened my daughter left the tap open and emptied a whole 40ltr through the system. I do notice that if the pump is not seated in the receiver on the side of the caravan, then sometimes water leaks from around the area that the pump connects to the van. This then runs down the outside of the van. I took this to be a too small O ring on the pump and just re-seated it when I h
  18. i have a 2001 avondale dart 510 with a Thetford 200 and the instruction book indicates a Thetford Door type 3. I purchased a new seal however it fits on the hatch perfectly but its too deep for the door to close and also it attaches to the frame not the door as the picture plus the lock is in the centre not top or bottom so i think this may not be a Thetfrod model at all. The seal i removed is much thinner. Any ideas? As i have a brand new Type 3 seal if anyone wants to make an offer :-) Also there seems to be moisture sitting in the bottom of the frame (in the locker) and some damp
