  1. Hi peeps, it him again, a quick question if I may, and, whilst this question might seam a bit mad I thought I’d enquire. We’re currently sitting in a great campsite in Kent, however, the lime levels here are extraordinary high, so high you have to wipe the kettle out every two days or you’re drinking limescale, not sure what it’s doing to those poor bu ggers out there that have to suffer it on a permanent basis, however, the question is, “ has anyone out there ever felt the need to run kettle descaler through the water system?” And, if so, did it damage it? would it damage it? Our van is a 2017 model the heating system is a sealed trauma system which runs on antifreeze so no worries with that, but the hot water system, taps and pipe work must be taking a right lime dousing at present, so I was wondering if it’s possible? as always your answers will only be shared with those that visit caravan forum, I’m looking forward to receiving your responses regards johnny
  2. Have thought for a while that we don't seem to get much hot water from the ultrastore, so did a test. Using a 1L jug, measured how much hot water we were getting. After 2l litres the water is only warm and then goes cold by about 3-4 litres. The water starts boiling hot, scalding in fact, so know heater is working. Have it running in electric only (High setting). Have tried with tap on full, and about half flow, still same amount of hot water. As this is meant to hold 10 litres, I would expect the "HOT" water to last longer. Anyone come across this? Cant be air block as hot water leaves tank at top, cold enters at bottom, not spluttering out of tap. Any Ideas?
  3. We have recently purchased a 2012 Elddis Chatsworth and have just returned from our first trip. I think there is a problem with the water heater. We were using electric and even though the hot water tank is 10L we only get about 2L of hot water before the water runs cold. (Water heater had been switched on for about an hour). We haven’t tried it on gas yet but surely we should at least be able to fill the washing up bowl before it goes cold on electric?
  4. Hi the mixer tap on the kitchen sink on a Bailey Senator, when pushed over to the cold side runs cold then hot, alternating every 5-10 seconds or so. Very annoying if you want cold water. Has anyone had this happening, and what was the remedy.
  5. I have mentioned this problem on ' Lunar Ultima so far ' but to reach a wider audience & hopefully an answer I'll post on this thread, I have recently changed the hot water non return valve on the Alde heater in my van & now I have got very little hot water pressure at the tap in the washroom. The shower in the same washroom has ample pressure as has the kitchen tap, cold water pressure is ideal at all three taps, any ideas gratefully received, thanks.
  6. From the album: History

Purchased 2007. Forget the year. Hot water at last. Was a very reliable van, nothing broke and was totally dry when traded in 2010.

  7. Folks could do with others thoughts on this one. I've bought a 2005 Sterling Europa 540 and just returned from my first long weekend away with it. The hot water is giving me grief to say the least I fill the water barrel, close the drain tap and turn on pump allowing the on board Truma Ultrastore heater to fill completely then open both the cold and hot taps and wait until all air is expelled and water flowing with no gurgles or glugs. Water seems to heat up just fine but each day I would experience only air and sputtering going on when opening the hot tap. At that time I could open the cold and all seems fine. Plenty of water in barrel and no air entering cold system. Any thoughts please with what could be occurring here would be appreciated . . Cheers John
  8. Hi. We are new to caravanning. Bought a Bailey Orion 450-5 last year. Stored it over winter and just got it out of storage. Have refilled the water system & all works well. But I can't get any hot water when only using the elec. I can switch the water heater to gas and it works but would rather use the elec if possible. And I'd also like to know what I' m doing wrong!! Does anyone have any suggestions pls? Any help much appreciated.
  9. I would love to have a long hot showers in my caravan but this is not currently not possible as the electrics can not supply the required kilo watts to heat the water. This got me thinking and I said why not just use gas? I want to use continuous hot water on Super Pitches only. Does anyone know of any manufacturer that builds a gas water geizer for caravans?
  10. hot water not heating up at all just cold water flowing ok no light on switch at socket could any one help baffling thanks
  11. I have a Truma hot water and heating system. My problem is I get only about 2 ltrs of hot water before it runs cold. I open taps, turning single arm on left and right, to rid air, heat water, 30mins I have very hot water but goes cold 20sec later. I am assuming tank not filling up fully. Any comments welcome. kevin
  12. I don't really dilly dally when it comes to showing in our caravan and I'm usually in and out before the hot water runs cold. But my wife would like a little longer to condition, exfoliate, or whatever she does! So, apart from spending A LOT of money on a 14ltr hot water storage tank, is there any way of getting more time in a hot shower? Or do I just send her to the shower block
  13. This year we got my first caravan, using savings and wedding present money, a Lunar Premiere 516 GTS (1996). The first disaster that quickly hit me on my first use, was the water tank broke, snapped off it's fittings due to the center bar apparently rotting some how. Ah well, only to be expected for it's age. We coped without the tank by using a combination of the site showers and a kettle. Knowing that I needed to sort it, I have investigated and again as expected, they don't make the Carver hot water tank anymore, so a refurb is my best bet. I got to thinking about how the tank is a min version of what you would have in your home, but now boilers heat the water on the fly, they don't store the water. Can I not do something similar in a caravan? I would like any advice on if it is possible to install a new tankless solution into my caravan rather than a standard tank method. I also would like any suggestions on models, and things to consider in my planning.
  14. Hi, I have a 2007 Swift wtih a Truma Ultrastore gas / electric water heater. It has recently started to cut off when on mains 240v if swithched off and left for a few hours it sometimes re-heats . ........ not always. the water temperature when working is no diferent in temperature than before the problen started. The gas operation is fine and a great back up. Has any one had this fault and know its cause? is it likely to be the replacement of a spare part or a complete heater swap? having seen the cost of a repalcement water heater I remain optomistic. your thoughts and advice are most welcome. Thanks
