I am starting to look to next years holiday already and after any help/recommends from the forum . In particular Kent and east Sussex where I have never been. We have a dog so need somewhere to walk her and prefer quiet smaller sites .C.Ls are our usual stops. Thats about it really . Any help gladly welcome. Thanks . Bill

Hi. Does anyone know if the route through the Gotthard tunnel involve towing the caravan up steep mountains? We are travelling from Black Forrest Germany to Basel then to Milan Italy and from there to Sicily. I have never done that route before and I am worried that I might get in trouble with towing the caravan if this route involves steep hills. Any advice is very welcome. Elaina -
Sun is shining in Scotland, just collected the caravan from storage, so about to wash it and pack all the kit I removed to install the additional electrical sockets. Off to a local C&CC District Rally for the weekend. Just booked the Newhaven to Dieppe Ferry for next week, taking the 20% discount for being 60+. £123.60 for car, folding caravan and 2 adults for single trip of 3 months, though we will spend about 50% of the time doing house maintenance and preparing a parking area for the caravan, so we do not have to impose on the neighbours, again! We thought this may be of interest to members. Last year my wife and I bought a campsite in the Auvergne region of central France. Last season was our first as new owners and we are looking forward to this summer and meeting people of all nationalities. The camp site, Champ de la Chapelle, is located in the Forest of Troncais, one of the largest oak forests in Europe. Any help and advice from members will be much appreciated, what exactly do you look for when choosing a camp site? -
We wanted a break of some sort at the end of this month, and were toying with lots of ideas. Eventually decided on Cornwall as a daughter lives there, and got the last pitch on Carnon Downs - and the warden was delighted to tell us that it's the Tall Ships too! http://www. falmouthtallships. co. uk/ - which looks as though it should be spectacular and fun. Better get booking some restaurants.

I'm looking for somewhere to take the 'van for a nice two week break in September within about a 10-15 mile radius of Bognor Regis - what can you lovely folk recommend? I haver young children to consider so a nice play area is pretty much a necessity. A swimming pool, while not essential, is desirable. ... Oh and it MUST have EHU. I loved the look of Chichester Lakeside, but they won't accept our van as it is too large We are not members of any club (yet) but are not averse to joining if the best site recommended is "members only" Thanks in advance!!

We got back yesterday from our first week long trip in our 3 week owned caravan and as everyone has said on these forums. ....we are officially hooked!!! As my previous posts have stated we have camped for many years but decided to take the step up to a caravan and oh was it the right decision. ...apart from making it at the end of the season. ..doh. We have just spent the week at the Croft Caravan Park in the village of Hawkshead which, after being modernised (apparently) during the winter, I can highly recommend. Well laid out, good clean facilities and you cross the road and your in the village which has four. ..yes four pubs serving real ales and great food, result!!! Having always headed down South (perhaps thinking it was warmer and drier with a tent) we decided to venture North and as well as recommending the caravan site I can also recommend the Lake District and Hawkshead village. It rained every day apart from Thursday and where we bothered. ..not in the slightest So as well as being hooked on the caravan, we are hooked on the Lake District and Hawkshead. ......Oh its going to be such a long winter. Once again I have to give thanks to all the previous advice given on my previous posts and so glad we made the decision to buy!!!

Hello we have a tourer and for 15 years we have been going to the same site but the owner has died last year after a very emotional goodbye we knew we would not afford to go there as the owner let us on cheap because we used to go as often as we could from march to oct. so now we have both come out of wrk due to illness and disabilities and need to find a cheap site between wigan where we live and north wales just me and hubby no pets non drinkers or smokers so we are not bothered if its not near beaches or clubs we just want somewhere to turn off from the world with electric hook up that's safe and cheap can anyone suggest anywhere please. After a family death and a bad 12 months we need to get away xx

Anyone have any suggestions for sites/places to go in late Autumn/Early winter for a weekend break? We're fairly new to caravaning and have been using our van in summer but would possibly like to use it more before we get snow and really bad weather.

We are thinking about travelling south again this year for our main summer hols. We've been down south a few times since getting the van - my faves are Wiltshire and Somerset. This year though thinking of doing somewhere near Ironbridge as have never done the gorge or museums in that area. Then a week either slightly further north or south of there. We like visiting NT properties, cycling and walking although not to peak/mountaineering standards. I have only stayed on 1 non-CC club site in my 8 years of caravanning (admittedly in the first year) and vowed never again. Any suggestions of sites in the area that might suit? No children or pets in our party. Thanks for any advice/recommendations
