We've recently purchased a new Swift Sprite twin axle QEW which has the AL-KO Stabiliser fitted. We tow with a 2020 BMW tourer (factory fitted tow bar) and have continually found the stabiliser handle raises during journeys. Thankfully, the hitch remains down and secure and the stabiliser is fully engaged at the start of the journey (pushed down firmly in place and green indicator showing). The local dealership cannot work out why this is occurring but there are some historic posts (15 years ago) on issues with the handbrake lever hitting the stabiliser hitch during some manoeuvres and raising the hitch. Surely this issue cannot still occur? Has anyone else encountered this issue or has any other suggestions as to why it's happening (and how to fix)?

Hi All I got my Compass Omega 505 serviced (2007) last week, and I asked the engineer to change the pads in the winterhoff hitch. Thinking that all was well, we hitched up and drove off, aiming to head away for the weekend. The caravan hitch was seriously noisey - very very creaky! To the extend where it sounded like the caravan was going to de-hitch itself from the car! I phoned the engineer and he came straight away, aiming to fix the problem. He tried his best - cleaned the pads, sprayed brake cleaner etc. . The problem still exists. He said that it was safe to go away for the weekend, and we did with no problems, but it's still very noisey. The engineer said that he's no idea what to do, apart from changing the pads (again) or getting a new hitch. Would anyone have any suggestions as to how the problem can be sorted? How can the noise be stopped? I'll have to get new hitch if all else fails! Thanks, Gareth.

Hi guys Need some advice please, I've just returned from the shortest trip we've ever had, lasted about 2 hours.. I forgot to remove the plastic ball from the hitch of the van ... thought the van was attached to the car, when it wasn't, but it was certainly attached enough to rip the emergency cable of the car, didn't snap the cable or pull it out of anything, It actually snapped the carabiner type clamp, the hand brake did come on the van though. And it also pulled the electric hook up out the car. The front of the van dropped and hit the ground, and i am really worried ive damaged the chassis maybe.. Although im absolutely;y fuming at myself and really embarrassed can anyone suggest what I need to do now.. In my mind 1 - Get the van checked by an engineer, im worried about the chassis as above, but also to check the electrics 2 - Get the electrics on the car fixed and tested now as the socket end smashed and the single electric wont connect properly. In the end, we had to just leave the van, luckily we didnt even get it out of the bay in the storage facility.. cancel the booking and come home.

I'm trying to get a hitch lock for my 97 Swift Corniche 15/2. It has M4557 cast on the side, and whilst I've tracked a couple of sold ones on eBay (where the sellers also didn't know the type), I can't find locks to fit. Clues please? Thanks. Dougie.

I have been getting a clonk when towing at low speed over fairly bumpy roads. Have checked tow bar on car and can not find any play there. Checked tow hitch on caravan and there is a slight bit of give up and down when holding ball cup and pulling up which gives the clonking noise - is this play normal? Noise dissappears when on normal roads. Our lane is fairly bumpy which is when I notice the clonk. ( The council don't seem to want to spend any money but still charge us a fortune in council tax)!!
