I have been advise to start a new post with this so here goes. Hi, Please forgive me as this is my first post. I have been reading with interest the various posts about water ingress on the Alu-Tech bodies and i was wondering if any members would be willing to offer advice on a problem with my 2012 Unicorn Barcelona. If i can start with a little background information first. We struck a deal in August 2011 at our dealers whereby they would take our 2 year old motor home in part ex against a new Unicorn Barcelona to be delivered in Nov/Dec 2011. A collection date was arranged for the 10th Dec and upon inspection i noticed that the internal wall on the bathroom had a small amount of damage and one of the kitchen cupboards had a damaged corner. The caravan was signed for on the understanding that these faults would be rectified and the caravan then moved to the adjoining storage compound for me to collect it over the Christmas period. Before leaving the caravan in their dispatch area i had a quick look around the outside of the van and noticed that the front nearside external locker had a large amount (about a mug full) of water standing in the tray inside the locker. Not too concerned at this stage as i put it down to the locker door not being closed properly. Went to collect the van over the Christmas period (repairs carried out o. k.) and again noticed that a large amount of water was present in the same locker. Left the van where it was and rang the dealer straight after the Christmas shut down. Explained the problem and suggested that it may be the locker seal?. Was told by the dealer that no fault could be found with either the seal, door or surround but defiantly water in the locker again so would replace under warranty. Apparently the infill panel had little or no sealant holding it in so it literally fell out according to the fitter. Came to collect the van on the 21st Jan and surprise, surprise!! a large amount of water in the same locker again. So far i have take about a litre of water out of the nearside locker. Left the van today with still a large amount of water in the locker as i figure its their problem now not mine. It transpires that water is leaking in from somewhere on the off side of the van down the inside front corner near the power / t. v sockets along the top of the shelf area behind the front chest of draws below the front windows then down into the nearside locker. This took less that 5 minutes to find due to the drips / puddles of water forming at various points along the van. So in reply to your original thread YES!!!! Alu-Tech bodies do leak. I have been told by the service manager that if i'm not happy with the offer of a repair that i should try and reject the van on the grounds of it not being fit for purpose. Does any members have experience of this or any of the issues i has raised so far?. Any help would be greatly appreciated. So to sumise: No motor home No Caravan (still at dealers) Caravan paid for Insurance paid for Storage paid for Powrtouch Evolution All Wheel Drive paid for and not fitted New awning 3 wasted journerys to the dealers Numerous phone calls One very unhappy wife Two unhappy children And worst of all No trips away since August 2011 Starting to get cabin fever!!
