I wanted to order a few small parts from http://www. thealdecentre. co. uk today and am completely shocked at the outrageous shipping charges in mainland UK. (Maybe we could start a discussion about their prices in general but that's another story) If you order four small pipe clips priced at 87p each you are faced with a shipping charge of £19. 99. Too much? Order only ONE then and pay only £12. 99. These would easily fit in a first class envelope or the smallest Jiffy bag. In today's financial climate and where you can get tracked delivery services from the likes of Collect+ or

Sorry, but the more I trawl through, and try searches in the gas threads the more confused I am getting. There certainly seems to be some negative comments about Calor but having been away from caravanning for some time I am so out of date. Anyway, my 'van came with a 6kg red propane cylinder and I am planning to "hire" another cylinder and "buy" the gas within. Is that right? The reason, if I am off grid and the gas runs out, I would like the luxury of switching over to another and can afford the extra weight. So, how much should I expect to pay for another full 6kg cylinder o

I put the heating on yesterday on our caravan which is parked on the drive. The purpose to pre warm the fabric of the caravan prior to going away today. As we are only travelling about an hour, it will be a quick warm up when we get to the site. The Alde heating is set to give 22 deg day time and 16 deg overnight. As the supply is via a plug through meter, I can see that we have used 44Kwh in the 24 hour period. Not really surprised as its "Brass monkey" weather out there. It raises the point in my mind though that we caravanners can consume a lot of electricity when we plug in to th

HI, Perhaps an emotive question, or maybe just self interest but I live on the beautiful Island of Ireland. The past two years I have travelled to France on holiday towing my caravan. This year we decided to stay on the Emerald Isle rather than travel abroad. Part of the reason for staying at home was the cost of ferry travel to both GB and/or France. This combined with Tesco's decision to reduce the exchange rate of vouchers from 4x to 3x, as well as Stena Line decision to cap the amount of Tesco vouchers that can be used for its crossings. Am I the only grouch on the isla

I've said it before and I'm starting to bore myself but. ... I was planning the summer holiday this evening. I needed a two nighter in the cotswolds region to break up a trip to Devon. I opted for Broadway cc site. For two adults and one child they wanted £63 for two nights. I cancelled I and opted for a well recommended private site for £16 per night. I really don't know how the club arrives at these prices for members.

Dear Friends, I just signed the petition "Force EU to abandon MOT's for Caravans." and wanted to ask if you could add your name too. This campaign means a lot to me and the more support we can get behind it, the better chance we have of succeeding. You can read more and sign the petition here: https://you. 38degrees. org. uk/petitions/force-EU-to-abandon-mot-s-for-caravans P. S. Please can you also take a moment to share the petition with others? It's really easy - all you need to do is forward this email or share this link on Facebook or Twitter and other caravan forums. https://you

I've just been a done a few checks on the cost of leaving the van permanently connected to the mains and was surprised at how much it can cost. I put the battery on charge using a 10amp Sterling smart charger since last using the van at the beginning of February. The battery was recharged in about 5 hours. Starting current from the mains (245volts where we are) was about 100mA = 24. 5 watts This dropped to 60mA and sat there continuously when the battery was fully charged = about 15watts. I then connected the van to the mains which drew 200mA continuously = about 45-50watts so it'

Hi all, I've signed up here with the intention of trying to learn more. I've recently had a yearning to have a caravan and try it out, not been since I was a young kid of about 8-10. we have recently moved house from a street parking situation to a detached with double drive and potential to store a not too big model on the front. There are only the 2 of us at the moment, and our mid size dog. We have a BMW 320d touring as a hopeful tow car. It's a shame there doesn't appear to be a way of just dipping your toes in to try it, I now you can start small, but it seems kind of one of

Hi, I have a 2011 Lunar Delta Ti with the Alde heating system installed. It's great apart from the poor heat in the shower room. It has the looped towel rail and we have bled it. It does heat up but is inadequate IMO so much so that Lunar have changed it in the 2012 Delta to a small radiator. Three questions: Has anyone had the radiator retro fitted? How much was it? Does anyone know a fitter in south Cheshire who could do it? Thanks
