  1. Hi All! After owning a Swift Charisma for many years, recently swapped for a 2012 Swift Challenger Sport 544 with end bathroom, front bench section that converts to a double bed, and a "U" shped dining section towards the rear the drops down to another double bed which mimic's the fixed bed version of the same caravan layout. REALLY looking forward to getting away in the new unit however. ................ Unfortunately, after dropping the table down, I can't seem to work out how the cushions are laid out to convert the rear dining section to be able to convert from a table to a double bed! In the wardrobe of the caravan, there were two additional slimline, oblong shaped (both a different thickness and shaping) foam pieces, I'm guessing these could have something to do with the set-up/layout of the bed however, just can't work out how on earth it's all supposed to fit together I've been through all the manuals that came with the caravan, scoured the internet for websites that could suggest how to set-up the rear double bed, and been on YouTube in the hope I can find something to show how to lay out the cushion pieces make up the bed! If anyone can explain, send pictures or even if possible refer me to a video of how on earth the cushions are supposed to be laid out, it would be most appreciated! Thanks in anticipation of helpful solutions! J
  2. Anyone know the name/product number for the plastic lens cover for the ceiling light on my Swift Challenger 2004 please? Ive broken the locating tabs on one of them and need to replace it. ..
  3. Hi guys, narrowed down my new caravan to either a Swift Challenger 640 or a Compass Rallye 634, if anyone on here has either of these caravans how do you find them? Sitting and playing about in them for a short while at the dealers can only tell you so much. Need a caravan thats good for two youngish kids. Thanks, Jake M :-)
  4. For those swift owners who are not members of Swift Talk. A topic started on the 3rd Feb 2013 has identified 5 incidents of serious cracks in the rear ABS panel. This is in the Technical sub forum. There are some photos that are truly disturbing. We are not talking surface cracks but serious splits that can not be seen from ground level. i. e. they are on the corners of the roof part of the rear ABS panel just above where the awning rail curves round. I have not posted copies of the pics because I don't have permission Can I suggest that those with this or similar models check their vans, being safe as you do so, in case it is a wide spread problem. Caught early it will mean a replacement panel. Left for months it could result in serious water ingress. Hopefully it will be a few isolated cases. My van last time I checked was OK and a 2010 model anyway so I have no personal experience of this problem, and would not normally use 2nd hand info but feel it should be subject to a heads up for the benefit of owners in this case.
  5. Whilst in Kent, we called into a Swift dealer, and discussed a new 6 berth Sterling, and the lack of supply. The dealer said this is common and reflects a big increase in demand from families like us. As such it may be worth waiting until the new 2016 models arrived before purchasing. Our salesman noted the following changes he was aware of for 2016: The Challenger Sport and Challenger SE models are likely to merge into one, staying broadly similar in layout and build, with the option to upgrade the heating and other aspects to differentiate the features each buyer prefers. The Sterling models will be completely revamped, with a complete new body bodyshell design. He helpfully mentioned without saying directly that the artists impressions he had seen were like the Swift Elegance (perhaps referring to SMART HT non-wooden floor), with subtle difference (perhaps keeping the dark lockers that the Sterlings have). As a family we mentioned our disappointment that the manufacturers don't seem to offer the family vans in the luxury ranges, as we would happily buy one, he acknowledged that many families have noted this, hence the shortage of 6 beds in general, so perhaps the manufacturers will 'lux up' for our market segment. I know that the Sterling bright and clean colour palettes are proving popular, and it would make sense to roll the SMART HT technology down to just one line. This would leave a broadly similar offering in the Challengers and Swift. This one model (Sterling) update and simplification of the Challengers may then meet more buyer needs from a budget and weight perspective (as I believe SMART HT is more expensive and heavier). We're now very excited for what the new models will look like, and hope to buy a new, hopefully (fingers crossed) 6 berth, SMART HT caravan. Has anyone heard anything similar from other dealers?
  6. From the album: History

Current home in the woods 'bluebell 3' Luxury really. Only missing Alde heating and having got used to that in the last two touring vans then the next 'bluebell 4' will have it for sure.
  7. Hi All My husband and I have just purchased our first caravan after too many camping trips affected by the rain;/. We are complete novices and are looking for advice on the following points: 1. Our 'van' has Al-ko stabilisers, what hitchlock (Al-ko) is compatible? I see lots of different models but am unsure as to which would fit our Swift 2. We have arranged storage at a CASSOA Gold approved site for £495 annually. ..is this reasonable? 3. What are the best, wheel clamps ord wheel locks? 4. Through some research, I have concluded that i need to fit a Swan toolbar with two pin electrics and have been quoted £384 for fitting. ..do i need to check or question the fitters on anything specific (i have rear parking sensors on my car) before i make payment? We don't pick up the van until 28th June but have become obsessed since purchase and am really looking forward to getting out on the road although slightly apprehensive. .... Thanks Jen
  8. Hi all, i have recently joined the group to have a good source of info for my aged swift challenger. I only brought this last month and it is my/our first van. After already spending on a few bits that i wanted to get us started we noticed on our last trip that the electrics did not seem to be charging the new leisure battery that we have fitted?????? I have taken the battery off again and got it on charge in my garage before i take it away again for a few days on Weds. i wasn't sure if this was a common issue with vans that are 20+ years old and whether there was an area in the PMS1 that controls charging?? If anyone has any help regarding Swift challengers circa 1990 ish please get in touch Thanks Dave
  9. Hi all, I was hoping maybe some of you could help me with an electrical issue on my Swift Challenger 480 SE. I recently bought this caravan but when I first took it away for the weekend I found that the Awning Light on the side of the van was not working. I replaced the bulb and checked the fuses but neither of these are the problem. I was wondering if anyones had the same problem or could offer any suggestions? Thanks!
  10. Hi there folks, I have a 1999 Swift Challenger 530 4 berth and am confused as to what tyre pressures to use. The service manual I have which I think came with the van says 50 psi at MTPLM but for now I won't be putting much gear in the van so what pressure should I use? I just got the van back from the dealer I bought it from it was in getting a mover fitted, the sort that turns each van wheel independantly. I asked the guy if the tyre pressures were checked and he said yes. Well I just checked them and they are are at 45 psi so what's going on chaps ! The tyres seem quite new but I need to check the year of manufacture on them (following advice on this forum). How often should they be changed as I know the tread will never wear out, it won't get used that much. Thanks in advance for any help. regards Ian
  11. Hi all, I was wondering if any of you could help me with a problem I'm having with the Cooker Ignition Switch on my 1999 Swift Challenger 490 SE? The switch has stopped working and I am keen to replace it myself but am not sure of how to best go about this. I'm afraid to remove the sealed unit round the hob unless absolutely neccessary but I can't find any advice on the internet search engines; though from researching this issue it seems to be a common fault with these cookers. Any advice would be great as I would prefer to fix this myself without the need for contacting a technician. Thanks!! Ted
  12. Hello all, we are leaving the dark side (Camping) and investing in a caravan. After trawling through several dealers we gave found the layout that we like EWSD . Avondale golden osprey( only viewed on the web) Budget is up to 10k and towing vehicle is a 61plate 2. 5l Auto Nissan Navara Tekna Connect Thanks for any advice and any other suggestions, German models etc Lloyd
