  1. Hi. Does anyone know if the route through the Gotthard tunnel involve towing the caravan up steep mountains? We are travelling from Black Forrest Germany to Basel then to Milan Italy and from there to Sicily. I have never done that route before and I am worried that I might get in trouble with towing the caravan if this route involves steep hills. Any advice is very welcome. Elaina
  2. My wife has brought home the latest Aldi brochure & there is a caravanning week commencing Sunday 25th March, items that interested me were the HD TV at £124. 99 & sat dish at £59. 99, there is also a twin tub washing machine of the type often seen on rallies abroad at £69. 99, low wattage kettle, mini oven, chairs, windbreaks, solar panels & aquarolls, I am definitely going to buy the foot pump at £12. 99, mine packed in last week so it couldn’t have come at a better time. The site is not live yet with these offers so the Aldi brochure is the only way to see them, it may become live after tomorrow when the next period commences.
  3. Ok, so we like to take bikes on our weekends away, and we tow our beloved caravan. Our son is of an age he likes to have his bike around, and we like to bike with him. .....so presently we take 3 bikes on the roof of our current Insignia estate car on most caravanning weekends. Climbing up to mount bikes on the estate is easy enough But here's the issue, we're considering changing to a volvo xc70, but there's probably more xc60's around in the configuration we want (manual, diesel, 160 or 180bhp, and a particular colour my wife prefers. at a price we can afford), and we're usually in the market for used cars. Although it's easier to get bikes on top of an XC70 as it's just an estate, I wonder if any of our forum friends regularly take bikes on top of an xc60 (or similar sized SUV)- and if so, what do you think ? Is it easy enough mounting the bikes on the XC60's roof?? Am I missing a trick that would make it just as easy and hence bring XC60's into the short-list? How do YOU go about getting bikes on top of your SUV? Advice welcome thanks.
  4. Hi guys and gals. Has everyone seen this yet? https://www. youtube. com/results?search_query=autobacking+camper&sm=1 Does anyone know where I can buy one of these autobacking caravans?

  6. Having been in the caravan industry for over 40 years, we've seen many many changes within the industry - design, new manufacturers, trends, laws, technology, interiors - you name it, we've seen it! What changes have you seen that stand out the most? Where do you think the future of caravanning lies and how much do you think it will change in years to come? With technology advancing quicker than we can keep up it with it, we believe that new devices and gadgets will be introduced to make caravanning even easier. .. We also wonder if one day caravans will have advanced in design so much that they are no longer the 'White box' design :o ! Who knows!? Where do you think caravanning will be in 10, 20 or even 30 years time?
  7. Well as it's almost upon us, I'd like to wish all my fellow caravanners the very best wishes for the forthcoming year, in caravanning and outside it! So whether you're near or far, you go every weekend or not, or your 'van is new or old, here's to a great 2013, with good caravanning weather for once! All the very best wishes, Al.
  8. So this winter weather is a little bit depressing and making us think of warmer climates are shores away. .. Caravanning abroad is a fun and exhilarating experience, seeing new places and touring in new areas. But where do you like to caravan abroad - a specific country or region? What attracts you there? And what great tips do you have for others that have not caravanned abroad before?
  9. We would love to know what makes caravanning your passion and hobby. Give us two reasons as to why you think caravanning is the way forward and why you love it! It may be the freedom you get from it - going anywhere you want in the country, a wide selection of campsites, meeting new people, being in the outdoors, a family tradition, affordability and flexibility, the list is endless! List your reasons below
  10. Discovering paradise can be tricky, but not when you know where to go for it - What do you use to direct yourself to a campsite? A Sat Nav? Smartphone? Good old fashioned map/atlas? Road signs? Let us know how you navigate yourself around
  11. This summer has seen some unpredictable but yet typical British weather. What activities do you do whilst caravannning? Come rain or shine, let us know what you do when it is both sunny and rainy. From snuggling up inside your warm cosy caravan watching DVD's whilst it rains or going out for long family bike rides down the canal in the sunshine - share you experiences and favourite caravanning hobbies
  12. What are the main credentials of a caravan dealer for you? Service centre? Long established business with a wealth of industry knowledge? Polite and efficient? Fantastic Aftersales care? Deals & offers? Location? Jot down your top 3 points that matter the most to you!
  13. There always seems to be people that pigeon hole caravanning with the 'older generation' - we think this is nonsense! Caravanning is our passion - and we believe all should it enjoy it! We get lots of families come in excited about finding a new van to explore the country with their young children, but for some reason society automatically assumes that caravanning is only for older people? What are your thoughts on this? Do you think all generations caravan? Or that is may put some people off? Or do you have a possible reason for why you think society stereotypes caravanners like this? We'd love to hear your opinions!
  14. We watched a caravanning documentary the other day about the British love for caravanning and a look back on caravan history. It mentioned about the times where you could just pitch up your caravan anywhere you wanted - a wood, forest, by a river, on the side of the road - anywhere! Obviously times have changed and you can no longer pitch anywhere you like, with laws in place to restrict where you stay. Do you think caravanning would be more enjoyable or interesting if you could pitch up anywhere you wanted rather than a dedicated campsite? And if the answer is yes, do you think caravanning would appeal to more people with what would seem a wider 'freedom' to pitch where ever you liked? Let us know your thoughts
  15. Hi everyone! We are currently working on building a new website for Broad Lane! The website will host and advertise all our caravan stock, an e-commerce shop for our awnings and accessories and much more! What we want to hear though is what you - the customer looks for when visiting a caravan dealer website? Helpful and informative information? Competitions? Handy videos? Please let us know what features you would like to see on our new website! Look forward to hearing all your feedback
