  2. Thank you for accepting me onto this forum at caravan talk. I have just bought an Avondale Dart 556-6 after looking at second hand caravans accross the the north west ans it seems like a nice dry well looked after example and whilst it's not a modern palace I it seems sound and we are ready for our first caravan holiday. The only thing is I don't remember any of the great advice, instructions and tips the previous owner kindly gave me and the manual although very detailed does not seem to have an idiots guide as to how to set up the caravan. For or example I attach it to the ma
  3. So on tuesday I picked up this vintage Avondale Heron, drove 2hrs back, and from my first time towing I think it was towing ok. From what I can tell it has most it’s original fittings etc some missing cushions but they’ll have to be replaced anyways. Little video on YouTube if you wanted to have a first look at it
  4. Hello dear friends here at the forum. I am new here today and would like to get your opinions and tips about my caravan. I have been driving an Avondale Landranger 6400 L since 2019, which I imported from England in 2019. I find the German caravans just ugly. The bathrooms and toilets are also only for undernourished people. I am a very delicate elf. Hihihi. I have changed a lot on my caravan and converted it to my taste. Now I have a question. How could I best convert my L Shape seating group so that I get two single beds. Converting to a bed is very uncomfortable and you don't pay much a
  5. I am looking for an Avondale Dart 380-2 toilet window. the overall dimensions are about 710mm wide by 560mm high. If there are none about I may cut and heat mould on myself. This would be done by clamping a suitable sized acrylic or lexan piece in a jig and heat moulding it with a heat gun.
  6. She's in the doghouse!! So, I found this group last week and haven't put my phone down all week. Joined yesterday and created my first post in the new members section (#doghouse). Thank you to everyone that commented. Your advise is very much appreciated. Just to clarify I'm a 42 year old man, married with 3 teenage kids stressed builder with my own business for 20 years that absolutely loves to load my newish transit custom van on Friday afternoon, wait for the wife and kids to get home from school and go and pitch up somewhere. One problem. The kids are not really ki
  7. Hi! Desperately need information on our caravan please. All I know is it is an avondale panthere. Apparently it was made for export but never made it. I'd like to find an awning for it and other info. I think it's 1994. Has a fixed bed but not central, it's in a corner and u 'U' shaped lounge, small kitchen area with the toilet/shower opposite. From memory, it's 8 foot wide and 21 feet long (internally I think). We have no paperwork and I've tried researching online. The pic below looks exact to ours but we were told it is 1994. Many Thanks.
  8. There is a hole (about 1cm diameter) in the white outer plastic shell of the rear panel of my 1999 Avondale Dart on the almost horizontal upward facing surface above the number plate. I can see the intact GRP material underneath it. I poked it with my finger in and more shell crumbled away. I haveput a bit of tape over it for now. Do I need to fix it? Is there a potential for water ingress? Any suggestions for the best way to permanently fix it?
  9. I've just become the proud owner of my first caravan, however, as to be expected with a caravan of this age not all the manuals are present. Does anyone have a copy of the user guide/owners manual?
  10. Hi all, I'm delighted to have just bought a 1986 Avondale wren with no paperwork. Can anyone help find some please? I have no table and no table leg support hole/floor bracket. Why? How is damp around the windows best treated, probably alongside replacing windows (where from??!!) as the 'wood' is soft/rotted? I have no curtains just a track and square sliders with small round holes in them, original?Any advice/help would be GREATLY appreciated. BTW, I'm in Devon. Many thanks....in anticipation.
  11. hi all! my first post. I'm fairly new to caravaning after a 5 year break. I've just purchased an Avondale Windsor 550 4 2008 model. Problem is - it hasn't come with a user manual and I don't know what some of the buttons are and how to charge the battery/shower etc. After some googling, I've come across this site and I'm hoping that I'll find someone to help (fingers crossed). many thanks.
  12. Hi everyone! I am new to caravantalk and have just bought my first caravan, an Avondale Rialto 550-40, 1999. Does anyone have a user manual or could point me in the right direction please? many thanks, Karen.
  13. Hello I have just sold my Avondale Perle Orion, 1980s style. Thinking about the people who are picking it up shortly and realise that there isnt a spare! Really want to make sure they can get one as Im sure they wont be bringing one with them next week Any advice gratefully received
  14. Hi can anyone help me locate a manual for a 2003 Avondale Avoce? Fw.
  15. It is with some sadness that I have to say we have moved on to a lunar lexon. The 1993 perle argos will be up for sale. Needs work but comes with an awning and everything you need to get going straight away. Damp yes of course! It is 25 years old! Fun bloody miles of it ! Make me an offer and off she goes. I was planning on sorting her out this year but an unexpected windfall means we have gone for another option gordon
  16. Hi all. .. i'm new to this forum and new'ish to caravaning . I've just purchased the caravan below. . I think it's a 1998 but at the moment unsure is does require some work which I'm looking forward to doing. . I'm looking for a manual or instructions to using the water heater. zig unit etc. ..any help would be very much appreciated. .regards gary
  17. We have discovered the dreaded damp in our otherwise lovely 2003 Avondale Dart 556-6. It manifested itself after particularly heavy rain and wind at half term, but from the feel of the walls it is not a new problem, as they are quite spongy in a couple of places. This is around the toilet and rear offside wall and on the nearside wall in front of the door. A caravan engineer who is based on our storage site suggested it is probably the seam around the middle of the caravan sidewalls. We do not have the £3000 quoted to replace the rear side panels, so we'd appreciate advice and thoug
  18. Hi All, The centre front window needs replacing on my 2004 Argente and I'm having real problems trying to find a used replacement. Unfortunately I don't have the original window to take dimensions from, I've based the size I need based on the distance between the two side windows. I've worked out that the size needs to be 1020mm wide across the top and the bottom, the depth at the centre is 820mm tapering to 770mm (to match the side windows). I've been searching through the online breakers and can't find a window to match. Would it be possible for someone with an Ar
  19. Hi, I have just bought my first caravan and know nothing more than it's an avondale. Just saw it, loved it, bought it. ........pretty reckless I know. Lol Can't work out how to add pictures so I'll do my best to describe. It's a two berth, has glass windows not plastic, rear kitchen/sink and toilet room, cooker down the side next to the door, the windows have A2731475 on them. The roof has a hump at the back with a small window each side. Any help with I. D. Age and info would be great! Thanks in advance. Kate
  20. Morning Everyone, well we did it - after years of talking about it, often when in a tent, my wife and me have purchased our first caravan. An Avondale Land Ranger, 1999 5500. We are really pleased with it and used it the first time last weekend. It was just great and thoroughly enjoyed it, but we came away with a few issues and questions. The toilet flush didn't work. Yesterday as soon as we came home I stripped the toilet apart, established the solenoid wasn't working because the fuse holder terminals were not contacting with the fuse blades. ...so sorted. But during my eff
  21. Is there a standard for caravan internal 12 volt wiring colours or does it vary between manufacturers? My 1982 Avondale seems to have only black (live) and white (neutral) cables for the pump and lighting (the only 12 volt circuits it has). I'm planning to upgrade the lighting and add more 12 volt circuits and want to do it properly. I've found a couple of wiring diagrams online but there doesn't seem to be any standard system for wiring colours. Thanks!
  22. We have an Avondale Dart and for the last 2 trips the water pump has not worked. The way in works (in non-technical speak) is that sucks water up into an internal tank and then when you switch the tap on, the water comes through. It is still sucking the water up as the level in the water container goes down, but then it does not come out when we switch on the taps. When we flick the switch to drain the internal tank (under the front seat), it all comes out again under the caravan. Can anyone suggest what the problem is and the fix? Would like to do it this weekend. Thanks
  23. Hi guys new to the site hope everyone is well hopefully I can find some advice on a avondale land ranger I've just bought (1998) with L shape seating area and end seating area.
  24. Hi was hoping some body could help me out with my avondale landranger sorry if I'm being stupid but do I have to fill the onboard water tank first so the water will then run through the taps or can I run it straight from the aqua roll. My last van I just ran straight from aqua roll
  25. HELP! We had the front window of our caravan broken in Spain last year. Our caravan is kept in Normandy. We brought the remains of the window back with us and it is being replaced thanks to insurance. A new window has had to be specially made and it is ready for us apart from the window catches. Unfortunately they were missing from the bits we brought home and the company making the new window has no idea where to place the catches. We cannot access our caravan to measure it so I was hoping that someone on here would have the same caravan and could give us the necessary measurements. Fi
