Can anyone give me their direct experience of filling refillable gas cylinders (Gaslow, Safefill etc..) whilst abroad, without having a dedicated fixed filling point. i.e. taking the cylinders out of a caravan or motorhome to get them filled. I have read of users being able to do this, but also some being refused in France and in Spain. If you do this, what has been your experience? I am particularly interested in other countries like Italy, Germany, Croatia and the Scandanavian countries. Thanks Simon
We are leaving this Friday for a 6 month trip to Portugal and Spain and as we both have regular prescriptions for medicine I asked the doctor if we could stock up before we went and was told no just order 10 days before you go, so ordered 3 lots of medication but the doctor only approved 1 lot, after a verbal complaint they have issued a second prescription but said we can’t have the third. A written complaint to the practice resulted in a reply that if we go away for more than 3 months we have to de register with the practice, register with a practice where we are staying and then re register with our own practice when we return. Does anybody else have this problem? Ian ps if I stop posting you will know we did not get our meds.
My Car Tax runs out at the end of May and we depart these shores on 27th April not returning until 2nd July. This has been the case for a few years and I have always been able to go a major Post Office in the area after the 6th of the previous month (in my case after the 6th April) and get my tax disc. I went today only to be told "the rules have changed and you have to apply direct to the DVLA". I rang the DVLA to be told it can take from 5 to 10 working days. .. so I sent off the documents by registered post late morning and with luck I'll get them back before the 27th April. ... but I might not!! I don't want to be in France without my V5C and MOT Certificate. So a word of warning to those that may find themselves in the same situation. .. plan ahead!! I could kick myself as I had it my diary to be done last week and didn't get around to it!! HTH, G.
So this winter weather is a little bit depressing and making us think of warmer climates are shores away. .. Caravanning abroad is a fun and exhilarating experience, seeing new places and touring in new areas. But where do you like to caravan abroad - a specific country or region? What attracts you there? And what great tips do you have for others that have not caravanned abroad before?
