  3. I have an old, Sterling Eccles Abbey caravan made in 2001 and first registered in 2002. I bought it because I wanted cheap holidays and I have not been disappointed until (possibly) now. I have been lucky with it in the past and have not had any need to understand all the issues around obtaining spare parts etc. Recently however, the front middle window blew out in high winds and smashed. Because the van is 16 or so years old it is not easy to find a replacement, a new one can be made, I think, but is estimated at about £600. I estimate the van is only worth about £2000. In order to increase my chance of finding a suitable cheaper replacement I need to know what make and models this window would have been used on at the time. And indeed later, if that is the case. Also there are numbers on the window which I dont understand, it says Roxite 94 which I think is the colour hue (but how diffrent is Roxite 80 for example) and also as well as Polyplastic Rotterdam, there is a number with a sort of vvv squiggle, in my case this is 399. I would like to know what this means. I also have the CRiS number and I wonder if or how this could be used to find another window. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in anticipation, Alan
  4. Hi All, I have been having holidays in caravans since I was around 7 years old. These have solely been on the island of Ireland, as far away as Cork and Kerry, but our regular spots back then were Donegal and Castle Archdale, Co. Fermanagh. When I left home my dad kindly still took the caravan to different spots (of my choice) and left it for my wee family to use, picking it up again afterwards. Legend! Often the caravan was already in Benone, County Londonderry so rather than put the old man out, we just went there. Recently, the opportunity came up for me to get a little 2 berth caravan, so I went for it, thinking that while it was small, it would be a good start for my own little van. So I am now the proud owner of a 1991 Abbey Lincoln GT. As there are 4 of us, including my 9 and 5 year old, we are planning to sleep two in the generously large bed, and two in a two man tent, inside the awning. I figured my 1. 2 Ibiza and my 1. 4 207 would both be spectacularly bad (and illegal) towcars, so I bought a big old VW Bora 1. 9tdi with an all important towbar. It's well inside the recommended 85% match so I'm happy. Anyway so far I've given everything a good clean, replaced all the waste pipes and the water filter, sanded and painted the wheels and hubs, and tested everything in the van. All good. Decor is suffering with a lot of cupboard doors etc peeling, so we are planning a bit of an interior overhaul. Anyways I'll be lurking around. Hi everyone!

Hi first time post, please can anyone tell me what is the PCD for 1994 abbey county stafford caravan hub. Thanks Bob
  6. The micro switch in the Comet sink mixer tap failed. The van is a 2006 Swift Abbey and is the same tap to this poster http://www. caravantalk. co. uk/community/topic/108382-leaking-kitchen-tap-swift/ I spent quite some time identifying the tap and ordered a new microswitch. The lever came off easily by simply removing a blanking plug and using a 2. 5mm Hex Key. I couldn't get the microswitch wires to pull through the tap and I learn that one has to dismantle the whole tap. The water pipe connections are behind the cooker and whilst one San feel them, the cooker needs to come out to get to them, I had the cooker out a few months ago to replace a thermo coupler, didn't particularly want to take it out again. Looking at the tap, presumably the 29mm nut needs to be undone to get to the cartridge insert. It looks a bit tight, but I've taken a chance and ordered a 30mm Box Spanner. Has anyone had one of these taps apart and am I on the right track ?
  7. Help I have a 2. 0 Tdci Touran (130 hp) and an Abbey 418GTS Vogue. They have been perfectly matched but I am now due a new company car. Due to policy, I can now have a 1. 6 Touran (105hp), 1. 6 Passat estate (120hp) and a 1. 6 Vauxhall Zafira Tourer (136hp). I have ruled the Touran out due to lack of power and faced with a dilemma. According to several websites, the Zafira is perfect but I am not sold on it. The Passat gives a middle of the road report with average performance but the weight ratio is 97%. However, the Passat is a great looking and carries a load of features. Does anyone put there have a 1. 6 Passat with a 4 berth plus caravan and if so, how do you find it. My Abbey is 1273kg (running order) and 1491 kg (max pay load) All help and advice greatly received. Sean
  8. Hi All, Very sad to report that our much loved Abbey Aventura 330 was taken from a secure(!) storage site in Wymondham, Norfolk on the evening of Saturday 5th October 2013. It was not insured and we will put in whatever effort and time is necessary in recovering our caravan. It is a 6 berth 2003 model with a cycle rack bolted to the back. It has a Fiamma Caranstore Zip awning fitted to the awning rail, with the rest in the storage area under the rear bunk. The fridge will have no shelves or baskets fitted as we had removed them for cleaning. Its CRiS number is SGDS003SW30296799 A cash reward is offered to anyone who can give us information leading to its recovery. Thanks Simon
  9. Hello, can anyone make use of front windows from an abbey 417 before I throw them away?
  10. I'm looking for a replacement rooflight dome for roof aperture 320 x 320mm but can't find this size on any google searches I've tried. Can anyone point me in the right direction please??? The caravan is a 1998 Abbey GTS Vogue 417. Thanks in anticipation for any help.
  11. Can anyone tell me what the single switch is for, left of the main bank of switches on my 2004 abbey spectrum. over the door. It. s not the awning light or water pump. Sean
  12. Hi. I have a question about the water pump on my 1990 abbey surrey. the 12v control panel has a switch to turn the pump on with a green light above and an orange light below to show when the pump is running. the problem is that the green light does not come on when i turn on the 12v supply. does the pump have to be connected or should the green light be on whenever the switch is on? the battery seems charged ok and the other 12v items work. this is my first caravan and although i have the original manual its not very specific to this model. any comments would be appreciated. thanks
