  1. This weekend like the first of many to come has been spent stripping out MOLLY. after 2 trips to the dump with cupboards cushions and wood, loads of wood we got her stripped out to see the full extent of the damp. We removed all of the black walls and the insulation foam that was damp and was still spitting water by using a wood chisel then left it to dry out that was day 1.
  2. Advice needed please - damp repair! I need to know the dimensions for the wood surround to the windows in my Elddis Odyssey circa 2008. I’m replacing a small section that has rotted. Eg the Sectional measurements, is it square or rectangular at 16mm x 24mm? Also what adhesive would you recommend?
  3. Hi I would like to hear from anyone who is having major problems with Elddis not repairing cracked rear panels under warranty since 2013. Also if they have returned after a replacement. Email address removed, as Geoff says it's safest to use the PM system
  4. Hi got an 80s Eldridge caravan and need to know if the rear bumper comes off in one as I cracked the left side indicator and cracked the bumper Hi got an Elddis caravan 80s can you remove the full bumper
  5. My advice to would-be purchasers? - move on to something a bit better.. Here's a no-particular-order list of some of the niggles we have had : The 'wallpaper' scuffs/tears very easily when doing simply things like stowing the dinette table. The wallpaper joint strips peel away from the wallpaper itself, making the walls look tatty and tired. Several small fittings have broken, such as the buffers for the glass cover on the hob unit.. and that glass hob cover is very easily scratched too.. The Whale heater developed a fault and can't be fixed und
  6. Elddis Odyssey 2008. Battery drain. Last year on Solar Power only, I became aware that my battery was getting lower than it should be. To cut a long story short, with the aid of a "plug in the fuse" amp meter, and a clip on amp meter on the main battery connection, I identified the drain was on the fuse supplying the rear interior lights. In detail, all the lights were individually off, but the master rear lighting switch by the main doorway was on, but I got a 1.5 Amp drain, about 18watts. Switching off the master rear lighting switch and the drain disappeared. We then resorted to usin
  7. Hi Can anybody comment on best bedding options and suppliers for the Hypnos Island bed upgrade on Elddis Caravans?
  8. Calling on Elddis van owner to check the seals around the battery box and under bunk external access compartment as the seal on my van has failed and flooded the inside of the van. The fact that it's on 2 compartments suggest it's the fixing material not a poor installation, in my opinion, but I was surprised that there are no fixing screws securing the frames to the body of the van. The picture is taken looking down the outside of the van from above the compartment.
  9. Hello folks We are nearly committed to buying an Elddis Crusader Mistral 2017 model from Webb’s. We haven’t owned a caravan before but stepping up from a trailer tent! We’d love to hear any feedback on the caravan model, it’s also a transverse bed with a rear bathroom. Also, as newbies how long does it take until you feel comfortable towing, any first caravanner tips and what’s the best way to navigate ensuring you don’t take a wrong turn or get into a sticky situation! Sorry for all the questions but would love to hear your views. Thanks
  10. Hi We have just bought an Elddis Affinity 530 (2016 model) and the full awning is 1000cm. But what size porch awning would be best. Thank you
  11. At our new vans first service they found damp in 2 places, at the bottom NSF corner of the front window and at the OSF side where the water intake is, going back in a couple of weeks to have some more readings taken, rubbish really.
  12. The following link takes you to the Elddis Handbook Archive http://www.elddis.co.uk/help-support/help-advice/handbooks?archive=1
  13. Hi we brought a brand new Eldis Avante 576. The caravan has a 10 year water ingress warranty. During its 4 year service they detected damp in the rear of the van and also the rear panels have split. Eldis are refusing to fix the issue as the panels are only covered for 3 years. I think this is appaling and have contacted them directy and they are refusing to do anything? Does anyone have any advice or where we can go to put in a complaint? Thanks
  14. Hi all, A few questions for any 304 4 berth owners if I may please? Me and the Wife are new to Caravanning, any now reaching mid sixties want to tour and enjoy ourselves a little before we are fully past it. We drive a Kia Soul 1.6 Diesel and have purchased a pretty old Freedom caravan late last year to see how we can get on with towing and plan to have several trips of increasing length this year to see how we get on. Looking ahead, and on the assumption that I can tow without too much stress, we have been looking to see what caravan would better suit us for long term use. T
  15. Hi. I'm new to this forum and to caravanning so if I'm asking silly questions please bear with me. I purchased an Elddis Avante 626 2008 2 months ago, I was told by the previous owner the microwave needed replacing as it has power but doesn't heat food up. (Very Useful) on inspection its connected at the rear by what elddis refer to as a " none customer Serviceable plug", I think its just connected with strip connectors? I would like some advice on how to disconnect and isolate the power. Has anyone replaced one in this model van? Can I buy an of the shelf microwave a

  17. We have just received the recall letter from Elddis relating to the Stargazer Roof light fault on our 2018 Elddis avante 586. I've spoken to the dealer who and they said that they've carried out reworks on 40-50 vans across the range by screwing it up with 6 screws. We have yet to book it in for the work doing because we really don't want to see any screw cap covers holding the thing in place - and ours hasn't fell off. Iv'e spoken to Elddis customer services asking them what is the normal method of fixing them and the response was "well normally they would be glued
  18. Hi community, having an exceptionally good time with a rented Hobby 540 (built ~1998) over the last weeks my spouse and I decided to buy a (used) caravan of our own. Our price range is around €10. 000 for a used Caravan and tent, this should give us a unit built around 2005 in reasonable condition. Our kids are already grown, so the size of the 540 may seerm like overkill for 2 persons (and 2 mid sized dogs). but we really enjoyed having some extra room. Units which caught my attention are - amongst others - a 2004 Elddis Odyssey 490/4 and a 2001 Elddis 470CT. Fo
  19. Hi again Folks for the second time today. The reason we joined this site today is due to some electrical problems I have been experiencing due to my Short Term Memory Loss. I'm Embarrassed to ask for help on this. My wife and I went to a local caravan sales dealership to seek help only to find they didn't have a clue how to help me as they say I may have caused further electrical problems while muddling through and as each caravan's control panel set up varies too much to be sure of giving us the correct information to help. Their recommendation was to call a mobile caravan el
  20. Hi all, Just noticed that Elddis have revealed whats to come in their 2019 range of caravans, including Avante, Affinity, Crusader, Xplore, Compass and Bucaneer. Thoughts? http://www. elddis. co. uk
  21. My 3 year old Elddis Crusader Mistral has just had its pre 3 year service and been found to have significant damp in the wheel arches, and around the heki sunroof. The rear panel has cracks which will ultimately let in damp. Elddis have agreed to cover the sunroof and wheel arch issues, but say that the rear panel is only guaranteed for a year! I’m absolutely dumbstruck that one section of the van has a limited warranty compared to the rest of it. I’ve been quoted £4000 to replace the rear panel and am at a total loss as to what to do. If not replaced it will become damp and lead to furth
  22. As some of you may know I have had five replacement sets of Ozio cushions for my 2015 Buccaneer and when I complained about the latest set my dealer replied as copied below. I spoke to my credit card company and they said that under section 75 there is no comeback as the van is now out of warranty and section 75 has to show a breach of contract. The next set will be coming from elsewhere at my expense. I did ask the dealer to confirm the meaning of ‘occasional use’ but he has not bothered to reply. Anybody buying a new Elddis might like to as
  23. Hi Im new to caravans. Was supposed to collect and older Elddis caravan to day but unfortunately could not get it moving. I have been told it has been sat for a few years. It will go backwards no bother but the wheels lock going forwards. What could this be and how can it be solved? thank you
  24. Hi all just taken the plunge and pre-ordered the 2018 840, I'm a newbie but the missus grew up with caravans, so I'm now roped into it after visiting the NEC for 2 years running. Wilf Ok I've messed up the title spelling already
