Can anyone come on and explain and then justify why a mobile engineer takes 4 - 5 hours to do a complete service on your van, yet a dealer's service centre wants my van in for at least a week? [(A former Lunar dealer very near to Preston) a dealer from whom I will never buy so much as a bottle of blue from ever again]

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) recommends the maximum period between inspection and testing for caravans should not exceed 3 years. My experience is that the so called service provided by NCC approved workshop is that they look for parts that can be changed easily so that an additional fee for fitting and supplying the part can be charged on top of the so called 'Service' charge. So make sure you know exactly what is going to be serviced to see if it meets your requirements. I found I was doing the little servicing bits myself that had failed the NCC inspection

Just wanted to praise the excellent service I received from Northumbria Mobile Caravan Services yesterday. I have my caravan in storage at South Meadows Caravan Site, Belford, Northumberland. You can also spend time on their pitches. I booked NMCS to come out to the Site and had my annual service done there. I found their work excellent and they kept me informed all the time of the work they were doing. Their charges were reasonable too. Credit where credit is due. Other than using this company I have no other connection with them.

I took my Caravan in for it's 6 year service yesterday and this is the last year for it's water ingress warranty. This will expire in June so hopping nothing is wrong. I have asked my dealer to give it a good check over after the last fiasco when my dealer found a small hole in the roof some 4 years ago. This resulted in my van going back to Baileys to have a new roof, front and rear panels fitted, also new offside wall boards fitted. Bailey tried to say that it was my fault but my dealer would have non of it and proved that it was a faulty roof panel that had Ally rot in it. So you can see my concern that all is OK.
