  1. Thank you everyone for your educational and useful responses. In summary it seems that petrol towing is indeed viable and capability is improving with newer cars. Additionally, some petrol engines are close to or even higher than their diesel equivalent models. One follow on question I have, is this: Are there any online or other resources / databases that one can look at to find the torque characteristics of vehicles? I'm particularly thinking of a database where you could say something like... "show me all petrol 4 door saloons less than 2 litres and order them by torque" Thanks again!
  2. Hello all, Are there any petrol cars that tow well? I ask because when I got my first caravan, I had a 2.2 litre Volvo V60 and it was really bad to tow with. I almost didn't make it up a very steep hill one time (screaming in first gear). So the above converted me to diesel cars but as diesels are now known to be more polluting than petrol (and will eventually be banned), I would like to think about alternatives. Thanks for any insights. Cheers! TJ
  3. Thank you everyone! Sorry for the late reply, ended up with a trip to China and no internet. I shall give this a try again after ensuring its the right way round and see if the sliding part will stay engaged when inserting and removing the cassette. Cheers all!
  4. Thank you so much for talking the time to reply to me. I had to go on business to China since you wrote your replies so I apologise for the lack of response - virtually no internet there. I will re-evaluate the problem based on your replies - cheers!
  5. Oh boy! The lack of responses maybe suggests that I cannot obtain these. Any suggestions for alternative options - the inoperative doors make the van look very shabby? Thanks.
  6. Thanks both! Sorry for the delay in response - I've been offline for a while. ..
  7. Thanks everybody for the informative and amusing responses. Went to China in the interim (and forget trying to use the internet there). Back to earth now, I will be looking to take my caravan to a year-round site somewhere between Reading and Southampton very soon as I have to vacate the marital home now. Any site suggestions appreciated. ..
  8. Thanks for the variety of responses you gave me for this. Very helpful and insightful! Cheers!
  9. Hello all, I believe that the biggest battery I can get into my battery box is 222 H x 171 D x 352 W What is the highest power battery I can get into that space please? Cheers!
  10. Hello all, My battery compartment seems to allow for a maximum battery size of 222 H x 171 D x 352 W. Does anyone know what is the biggest power of battery I can get into that space? Cheers!
  11. Hello all, I have a Truma TE mover on my twin axle Lunar Lexon EW. It was on the van when I bought it. The problem is that it seems to have real difficulty in actually getting the van moving. Very often the actuator thingy that presses onto the tyres just spins against the tyre and does not move the tyre. Is this a common problem and any ideas how I might improve things? Cheers!
  12. Hello all, I've got a couple of damaged cupboard hinges in my van. Are direct replacements for these easy to source and if so, where might I buy some? Same question re the catches that keep the cupboard doors closed. Cheers!
  13. Hello all, My van is fitted with a Trumatic S3002 (I think), along with Ultraheat and Ultrastore. It appears to have some kind of blown air heating (see picture). However, when the heater is running (using gas but plugged into mains power), no air seems to come out of the vents. I'm almost certainly doing something wrong or lack knowledge but I appreciate any ideas you may have as to how to enable this feature. On another matter, if I want to use mains power for the heater instead of gas, do I simply use the dial on the right instead of the one on the left? Cheers!
  14. Hello all, Is the piece of plastic that slides on the top of the C200 supposed to come out of its runners? I'm thinking not as it seems to get pushed out every time I put the cassette back into it's frame in the caravan. If it's faulty, what would be needed to repair it and is it easy enough for a novice? Many thanks!
