  1. Spent a long week-end here. Easy to find Ripon Road, the access gate is missable coming from Harrogate. Very pleasant small site, not many on site at this time so plenty of room. Very welcoming owners. Toilets and showers are uni-sex, this did not present any problems. Short drive into Harrogate and easy access to the other towns near-by. Would recommend this site.
  2. Spent a very pleasant week at Finchale Abbey. County Durham. Great site, very quiet, peaceful location adjacent to the River Wear. Great facilities, very well maintained. 16 amp EHU. Security barrier with card key access( £10 refundable deposit) Acces via the A167 Chester le Street from the A1( don't go through Durham City centre) and don't follow sat nav which takes you off the A167 via narrow country lanes, follow the route supplied by the site owners. If you get lost look for HMP Frankland. ....it's about 2 miles from the prison but don't be put off by this. ...the site is down a wide country lane. Steep hill ascending from the site but it's only a little hill ! Overall great site Hard and grass pitches. Some pitches are very un even and would require lots of levelling blocks. ..best pitches are A1 to A4 which are against the Abbey walls. Great woodland and riverside walks nearby. Stay out of the resident only park home area. ....we went for a walk through to have a look at the park homes but did not feel welcome. ...would recommend this site. ..only a few miles into Durham. ..10-15 mins from Beamish open air museum, and a little longer to Sheldon for the National Railway Museum.

  9. I haven't looked into this. But if the tracker or whatever requires power it is going to drain the battery. What happens if you don't use your van for say 5 weeks, the battery is going to be flat without the tracker, and it will require a new battery. Due to lack of experience (newby) been there done that, bloody expensive error.
  10. We were in the same boat a year ago, the main difference Is its warmer at night. Enjoy.
  11. If you do go and book in advance try getting a pitch on 88, there are four here on grass toilet/showers 2 minutes away.
  12. A bit further north is Club Camping Perroquet on the outskirts of Bray Dune. As you drive into this site you are on the French side of the road on the way out Belgium. Nice clean site, spotless toilets, short walk or drive to beach. Supermarket across the road, Belgium next door. Recommend it any time. ,
  13. Been to Wales several times never had a bad site anywhere. Porthmadog is a good central place to stay Gareg Goch is an excellent site, limited tourist spaces. Easy driving all up the coast to Anglesey, recommend visiting Beaumaris, and south bound down to Aberystwyth, closed until August.
  14. Thanks for all the advice, we will stay at Les Pommiers. Booking tonight. Any recommendations or no-no's for a one nighter this side near Portsmouth please.
  15. We are going by ferry to Ouistreham (Caen) arriving late in the evening. I was thinking of stopping in the aire on the A158 north of Falaise. It appears to be just a halt no services. The next one appears to be nearer Le Mans. Anybody used it or can give any advice?
