  1. If you are thinking of getting a Maxxraxx bike rack, make sure you get the extension as well. This ensures that the bikes are well above the tow hitch, allowing you to hitch and unhitch the van without grovelling on you hands and knees. They are good racks, I used to have one, and, when braced to the top bars as LeadFarmer has done, it is very stable.
  2. They belong to the mutual adoration society. Me, Me, Me.
  3. At this time of year you can usually get an ATMB tag just for the price of the postage as they are normally trying to attract skiers. You then only pay for the toll on the autoroutes being used plus the nominal admin charge for each month in which you use it. My wife reckons it was one of my better ideas. We also use the Halifax Clarity Card.
  4. We still have milk delivered in glass bottles, which are recycled,
  5. Aldi sometimes have a charger on offer for about £15 which you can use to condition the battery. Otherwise give the battery an occasional boost from a normal charger.
  6. You should be able to get a replacement lamp from your local caravan dealers. Take a photograph and show it to the dealer. Most lamps are a push fit.
  7. Where are you situated? I have an adaptor going spare, which you can have for a modest fee. I am based in S W Lancashire near Wigan if you wish to pick it up.
  8. The only problem with the 3 night ruling is that it makes it impossible for working people to book a weekend of 2 nights.
  9. Can anyone tell me how to print out copies of the "Campsites near Autoroutes"? I have managed this in the past, but seem unable to do it now. If I select the sites near autoroutes window all I get is a list of the different satnavs. Any help would be appreciated.
  10. We have a tow cover for a Bailey Unicorn Cadiz which has the plastic panels similar to yours. The cover has clips which secure it to the bottom and sides plus a tensioning strap under the A frame. The covers are custom made for each model of caravan and are a good fit. Have words with the manufactures and examine their brochures I'm sure you will find one to suit.
  11. Forget lining up the second wheel and buy a different wheel lock such as Nemesis which does not require lining up.
  12. Found this by googling Pegasus Rimini, but it needs enlarging. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/794807/Bailey-Pegasus.html?page=12#manual
  13. ATMB:- Auto Routes Tunnel Montblanc. French Auto routes.
  14. We had a Conway Countryman folding camper before we moved to a caravan. It was very versatile, easy to tow, and complete with kitchen, awning, and sun canopy. We changed to a caravan so that we get a longer season, and not be worried about damp canvas, and no central heating.
  15. How about something like this :-https://www. halfords. com/technology/car-audio/stereo-fitting-accessories/universal-iso-harness-adaptor-ct20uv02?cm_mmc=Google+PLA-_-Car+Audio-_-Stereo+Fitting+Accessories-_-581824&istCompanyId=b8708c57-7a02-4cf6-b2c0-dc36b54a327e&istItemId=-xrmpqrxxti&istBid=tzwt&_$ja=tsid:94971|cid:1537736295|agid:61505028387|tid:pla-331764450417|crid:291898456055|nw:g|rnd:11777647096531771450|dvc:c|adp:1o3|mt:|loc:9046526&gclid=CjwKCAiArK_fBRABEiwA0gOOc45Z3usjVoYl96uqcqiK9mIfvPEC-IrwSAO2uJVIuCP9ydebrpU6EhoCW9kQAvD_BwE I just googled car wiring harness socket.
  16. Have a look at the Thetford service instructions. There are several sections showing how to replace items. http://www. thetford. pl/serwis/naprawa_toalety/C250. pdf You may get some idea of how to correct your problem by removing the blade mechanism.
  17. I have just measured my Sorento which is a 67 plate. With the 2nd row of seats pushed forward, the dimensions are 1050mm wide x 900mm long. If your dog cage is tapered you could increase the length. We take out the 3rd row of seats to create a large well for camping gear and save 30kgs weight. Hope this helps. If you are still unsure visit a dealer and measure the boot with various seat configurations
  18. I bought two French cylinders years ago without any documentation. We use very little gas, as, with careful monitoring, the site electricity supplies generally provide all the cooking and lighting. I would suggest that you try a well-equipped site close to the channel on your first outing and get to know the ropes. You will find it very relaxing compared to driving in the UK and very rewarding.
  19. Personally, I would go for propane gas. It only needs a chilly night for a butane bottle to stop working, and then your morning "fry up" is doomed.
  20. Have a look at Archies camping website. it lists lots of campsites with their opening and closing dates close to the route you are using. As Edwin says, it is not necessary to book at this time of the year.
  21. I seem to remember that in the past the Alko hitch handle had nudged the handbrake as the caravan ran up towards the car when braking. The handbrake had been accidentally bent, and all that was required was that it was bent back to it's correct position to clear the Alko hitch handle. Perhaps someone with a better memory than me can confirm.
  22. Went to my local Tesco today and saw two able-bodied persons park in a child/ toddler bay. Wish we had some more severe means of punishing these idle idiots. One of them wore a uniform with ID badges! As a mere septuagenarian, I would never even consider using one of these locations.
