  1. When messing with electrics, best have someone approved. Our Hobby Prestige 12 volt system was upgraded by Hobby Ambergate. Any UK approved workshop can assist. Best of luck.
  2. Hi Teledave Had a similar problem with my Premium. Very fiddly, I contacted Hobby Ambergate, the sent me info, but have misplaced the info now.
  3. UPDATE: Toured Spain; November 2014 through to February 2015. Haro, Madrid, Seville, Cádiz, Córdoba, Costa Blanca etc finally Barcelona (Sitges). Not a single hesitation, superb drive especially on a couple of long hauls (6 hours with breaks). Some very high and hilly twisty mountain drive to site in Sierra Nevada too. MPG was 29 overall.
  4. UPDATE: Spent November 2014 to February 2015, touring Spain, Santander, Haro, Madrid, Seville, Cadiz, along bottom coast to Barcelona, back to Haro. Excellent, no problems.
  5. Yes Candlefish, see my email to you. Ignore comments from Non-Hobby owners. Check weight etc as our Premium 495 UL is 1440 KG road ready, with a capacity upgrade to 1750 KG's. 203 m wide; 7. 63 m long (including draw bar). Owned Hobby's since 1985. We tow with a Volvo XC70 Sport, just completed a 4,000 mile tour of Spain (November 2014 to February 2015), 29. 5 mpg. Drove through blizzards and floods on leaving Haro for Santander two weeks ago. Not a twitch from car or caravan. ALL makes of caravan welcome abroad. You have a Hobby Dealer on the way the Stranraer, can't remember
  6. WRONG, the widest German Hobby is 2. 5 meters!!! Single axles Hobby's are 2. 3 i. e. the same width as UK vans.
  7. Just contact Hobby Ambergate in Derby, they are the UK importers for Hobby. If you can, it would be worth your while having it serviced by them too, about £190 I think, competitive with a UK service. We have our Hobby serviced there, there are a couple of sites nearby to overnight, drop van off am and pick up pm.
  8. Late with my input. Having bought 5 new Hobby single axles touring caravan from Germany, never had a problem, never changed the electrics but use adapters. Bought our Premium from Joeressen in June 2012. Serviced at Ambergate Hobby UK importers. Also have had warranty work undertaken there too, no problems. Ambergate are excellent. Does anyone have problems buying German or French or Swedish or any other continental Cars?? Hobby caravans are manufactured in accordance with EU legislation and Quality. By the way I've noticed the "travelling" community using a lot more British van
  9. Perhaps the less informed should take up a new "hobby" such as Lego !! Or better still go camping I doubt very much these knowalls have a passport ! Go to Germany? But Germans live there and they make superb cars too!!
  10. http://issuu. com/spr. ..1811860/5859103 The above is the link for the 2014 Hobby Caravans Brochure. Taken from the Hobby UK site. It has the models available, with model weights, size and options, accessories available too. Tyre and wheel sizes, awning & sizes too. Type of axle and brakes etc etc. . I cannot see what else one would hope to find in a Caravan brochure? They have a telephone number posted and email address too. They have selection of new and used caravans too. Apart from owning a Hobby (since 1985), I am not a dealer, I do become involved in discussions on Hobby ca
  11. It's silly comments such as this that do more to turn people off caravanning.
  12. More comments from those that know nothing about european caravans. They start at 2. 3 mtrs and are also 2. 5 mtrs. Why are some UK manufacturers making 2. 5 mtr vans? European caravan's have the same model layout as UK vans too. They have the same weight for weight when compared with UK top of the range. I do not see any comments on the Airstream vans or the huge motor caravans. Just the same old bls bla bla.
  13. Family run bussiness. Lovely location. Tend to supply larger i. e. Twin Axle for semi permanent siting on their own site. They advised me they could not service Hobby "tourers". Consequently we use Hobby UK (Ambergate). We have a Premium 495 UL and have it serviced by Hobby UK (Ambergate. They are the UK main agent and distributor for Hobby. They also have a very large collection of used caravans too. We live just outside Cardiff, so when having the caravan serviced, we take the opportunity of a long weekend in the area, staying at CC CL site in Crich or the CC site in Ambergate. P

  15. The Hobby UK site has prices for new and 2nd hand. The brochure, if you down load it is very comprehensive. The prices are comparable to top of the range UK caravans. The Hobby UK site has a list of their approved dealers too. We have our Premium serviced and maintained by Hobby UK, insured with the CC and toured for over 30 years with Hobbies without any problems. I would suggest a forum that European sites start ban UK manufactured caravans.
