  1. Yes Setthorns is a favourite of ours as well. Also had a week at Camping in the forest at Loch Lomond near Balmaha a couple of years ago, That was also good , not in a forest as such but right on the shore of the loch. We were about 20 feet from the water! Wonderful walks all around , boat trips across the loch, see the ospreys! Quite a few permanently pitched outfits, but we had no problem with that ( a lively bunch of Glaswegians next to us!)
  2. I use a Halifax Clarity card for purchases and load a Caxton card with Euros for cash. I see that Halifax along with many others are charging for cash withdrawals.
  3. unfortunately the chap in the blog had obviously not been shown how to open the door properly, that's how he broke the catch!
  4. Dometic 9300 I think is the one, same as in my van. I must admit I've never read the bit about locking the fridge when travelling because when you shut the door on this fridge it's ....well locked! When you close the door you should just give a little push on the handle and you'll hear a click, locked. When you open the door pulling on the handle doesn't work ,you have to put your thumb on the door just in front of the handle to open the door . It sounds a bit complicated but it isn't and it soon becomes automatic whenever you open the door
  5. we have exactly the same occurring on our Pegasus Verona! Has a cover on all winter but faces south and in the summer gats full sun.
  6. Or you can go to an AWS member and they will do warranty work for most makes of van. I bought our van from LadyBailey, but we now live in Devon and use a AWS member close to us. He has been happy to carry out warranty work(twice).
  7. I did have one drop off in France a few years ago and the pins were wearing away on the road surface! Fortunately there was just enough pin left to connect to the socket. I always carry a spare now but it hasn't happened again although I always check that it is tightened up these days.

Lovely sitem most pitches overlooking the sea. Onsite cafe/bar, 2 pubs in walking distance. Islay is a beautiful place to visit. Oh and the whisky is pretty good too!
  9. Bioran Dubh is a CL near Port Appin just up the road from Oban with great views across to Castle Stalker, beautiful spot!
  10. My caravan was booked in for warranty work in January but it was put back by the workshop/manufacturer to April when my service is due , hoping that restrictions on travel had been lifted by then. I don't think it is allowed at the moment.
  11. I had some warranty work booked in for this month with my local workshop( damp rear o/s corner) and it has been postponed until service date in April- 8 days away in the last 12 months!! So shouldn't be too much needs doing then ?
  12. I know that many people like to take lots of supplies with them when they travel across the channel, I don't but that's a personal choice there seems to be plenty of shops over there! I wonder how they feel about the new regulations in the EU that mean you cannot take any meat or animal derived products with you from this country when you travel over there. There will be a few glum faces I think?
  13. On the government web site (gov.uk) it says, "You do not need an IDP to drive in any EU and EEA country, or Switzerland, for stays of up to 12 months." Of course that may change in the future, but at the moment you do not need an IDP
  14. I did take my DeWalt around Europe for a few years but the case is a little on the large side. I bought a Moss 18v off Ebay for about £20 , had to buy second battery separately, and it's been great. Small, plenty of power, small case that fits in the cupboard under the sink, charge lasts for a long time.
  15. Camping in the Forest site at Loch Lomond is stunning, right on the beach.
  16. Hi Ted, we've had our Pegasus Verona for 4 years now and have clocked up a fair few miles with her, Scotland, France ,Spain & Portugal as well as a few trips at home. We love the front window! When you stand up you don't lose the view. I know other makers have followed this idea but I know we wouldn't go back to the old style windows. The layout on ours really suits us with the fixed bed, and we like the large fridge, apart from the fact that some wine bottles don't fit in the door!! It's a great van just a shame that it hasn't had much use this year, fingers crossed for 2021
  17. ours is just a pig to feed into the rail, the last one was no problem, I'm not looking forward to trying to take it off!!
  18. Crawler! maybe not the best brand name for a caravan
  19. https://www.baileyofbristol.co.uk/news-events/covid-19-update-from-bailey-of-bristol/ Well for what its worth , this just states 6 months extension from the due date. Does that help?
  20. I have a 3.6 m Caravanstore and it is an absolute pig to feed into the awning rail, took 3 of us about half an hour last time and I'm not looking forward to taking it off!
  21. Seven various LR products over 40 odd years. Had a RR Classic for 14 years, (fuel pump relay changed) and then the tailgate rusted away!! . Now have a Freelander 2 , 4 years and no problems.
  22. There is also Isle of Avalon site just outside the town centre. We stated here in March a couple of years ago and it was OK, but tired looking but looking at their website it seems to have smartened up a bit . Easy walk into town, so no need to drive there.
