  1. Its an Alde Continuous hot water flow boiler I think
  2. Greetings All to this section. Up to now I have kept my totals on T&T but since it is no longer I shall add them here. So, so far this year we have had 87 nights away so far with quite a few still to come. Regards to All Dave
  3. Just done a bit of research on this. I can't find anyone who recommend polishing them or anyone who doesn't!! The main thing is because the panels tend to be horizontal and the water doesn't run off is that dirt can build up more than on other ones. The advice is mainly clean water will do but anything you use on glass windows will do as long as you don't scratch them. But do rinse off with plain water.
  4. I leave my mains socket tester in a socket so not only know if I have a polarity or earth problem but if I have mains on. £3. 50 from Farnel Dave
  5. I never liked how the Milenco distorted the tyre. After one use when we had to lift it quite a bit we had a tyre blowout which I always felt was brought on by the distortion. So we never used it since.
  6. The Manufacturer fitted Michelin tyres on my Bailey Unicorn showed signs of cracking in the tread at under 5 years. So have other Michelin so beware. Date code was 5 years old.
  7. We have just ordered a Bailey Unicorn S4 Barcelona and are considering having a Truma air-conditioning unit fitted. There are two units suitable. Eco or Comfort the eco is a lower capacity cooling but takes only 2. 5A the Comfort is higher capacity but uses 4. 5A and does provide heating as well. We don't go to south of France etc but are due to go to Italy. Any advice or experience of either?? Thanks in anticipation, Dave

  9. Charging up-date: At home I use an Aldi or a Lidl intelligent charger. These have always done me proud and whilst not perhaps as good as a CTEK they have always had V Good reports. This week in Lidl they have another one of these chargers but an updated model for £13. 99, so i decided to get one. When reading the instructions I discovered that the Snow Symbol setting was for charging Lead Acid batteries in very cold weather AND intended for AGM batteries at 14. 7 V. So perhaps my existing chargers will also do this. Dave Now to work out if and how I can boost the AGM battery in the van occasionally when on EHU. Perhaps interrupting the battery supply circuit, near the battery, and inserting a break/input point for the charger.
  10. This was our visit, well worth the trip. http://www. mycaravan. org. uk/Alde3. html Dave
  11. So I wrote to Platinum I have just bought a Platinum AGMLB6110L for my caravan and there seems to be a lot of different opinions about charging it and the voltage required. I have a standard caravan BCA charging system and a solar panel with a morningstar controller. Is this OK and can I also use a normal lead acid inteligent charger with it?? Thanks Dave Reply from Manufacturer I can understand you wanting to ensure you are charging your battery correctly and there is a lot of conflicting information on the internet. I am not familiar with the standard BCA caravan charger of the Morning star Controller on the solar panel so I cannot comment on them. A solar panel will not charge a battery from flat but will keep it fully charged when not in use. For the BCA charger, please ensure that this has got an AGM setting as it does have a different charging algorithm to the standard flooded batteries. Both the standard flooded and AGM batteries are lead acid with the difference being on how the electrolyte is stored in the box, so yes an intelligent charger is fine as long as it is set to AGM. So I rang him. Basically if I don't use an AGM charger the life of the battery will be reduced ie number of cycles to 50%charge and so I explained my usage and he said I should expect a 5 year life, good enough for me!!!!
  12. Latest I've found is "AGM technology batteries can be charged at normal flooded lead-acid regulated charging voltages, therefore, it is not necessary to recalibrate charging systems or purchase special chargers. "
  13. THe thing that some people are saying is it needs a charge at 14. 7 V not the normal 14. 4V to be fully charged, so I am concerned about under charging rather than over.
  14. Asked the Charger manufacturer BCA who basically just said yes. The Charge controller a Morningstar SHS-10 10amp charge controller I can get no answer or sufficient information about it though it is a fixed system with no variables
