  1. Sometimes nothing goes right. We had booked a weekend in a hotel for Christmas shopping, left the house and only when we arrived did we realise that we had left all our clothes behind the bedroom door, so a 1 and half hour trip back. Got to hotel and decided to spruce up I'm in bath wife just finished when fire alarm went off, so out in cold winters night with just a towel on. Next evening thought we would make use of the swimming pool so had trunks on and removed my specs before walking down to pool area. Doors were open as they had been painted and no-one on desk so I went ri
  2. Brittania will cover the caravan, as long as it is being used as a single unit, ie when towing. I have an email from Brittania saying they will cover both . This was my question. Britannia cover is rated quite highly by caravan owners but there seems to be mixed messages from Britannia as to what is actually covered in the event of a breakdown. One member has had a verbal reply that unless ‘hitched’ the caravan is not covered, whereas another member has said as long as the car and caravan take the same trip to either the UK or abroad they are treated as “ 1 unit “ so a problem
  3. Sorry re-read post by Lutz, brain didn’t compute not in U.K.
  4. Once again, thank you all for your suggestions and advice.
  5. Thank you for the replies, I hadn't seem the previous topic. I do on a regular basis clean windscreen and the rubbers, I hadn't considered the spring so will apply a little oil.
  6. I find that after just a few months wear my wiper blades seem to squeek or bounce across the windscreen, the noise is annoying, I change then at least every 18 months because of this. I have tried autoglym fast glass, other windscreen glass cleaners, washing up liquid, even methylated spirit was suggested. What I can't seem to fathom is why the wiper blades are like it and whether there is anything I can do to resolve them squeaking like they do?
  7. There used to be 5 pitches, but they have expanded and there are now 10, although most are now taken by seasonal caravans, so book early!! I found the fishing to be very good with plenty of choice. The last mile is single track but there are passing places and also you can see any vehicles approaching so not a big deal. Yes it is a little remote the nearest village is about 10 minute drive. The owners are very welcoming and very pleasant nothing is too much trouble. If you want to fish on the specemin lake you will probably have to book. weekends get busy and they do have
  8. Just a slight move 'off topic' but how come the French have access to out DVLA , yet we do not seem to have the same access according to a resent topic from Kent Police who apparently are letting foreign drivers off speeding tickets.
  9. I'm sure you will receive plenty of advice. when you leave home or site, just stop down the road after about a mile and double check everything is ok, just in case you may have forgotten to lock something. It's worked for us on more than one occasion especially when we first started caravanning, such as front locker or skylight. also make sure the top lockers are firmly closed so items don't fall out, very easy to miss. I tend to check and deal with outside and leave wife to check and deal with inside.
  10. Sorry, bit slow replying, but thanks to all who replied.
  11. Wispman, what precations do you take to ensure that your not ripped off, money wise. How do you make sure that your not taken for a ride ( no pun intended) . when I come to sell mine I just want to ensure that the buyer doesn't use some trick, or fraud and i'm left out of pocket.
  12. Looking at the picture, just wondering if it would all fit on your own pitch or this additional windbreak will end up butting onto the neighbours pitch, sometimes there is barely enough room for the caravan, awning and car on some sites.
  13. Perhaps the next step up will be fingerprint or eye scanning!!
  14. cotswold carp farm, 10 minute walk into bourton -on-the-water
  15. I agree with the OP, very frustrating when cars 'barge' across in front of you without a thought as to if you are able to move across into the second lane, which sometimes you are unable to do.
  16. Seems to be a common problem, mine is the same every nown again will come away from screen, I have the wiring go across my inside mirror so that when it does fail it just hangs from my mirror and not drop down all the way. On a side issue, with this extremely hot weather i wonder how the insides of the camera copes?
  17. We have used the seresto collar for our lab for a couple of years now. They are far more effective than frontline or spot-on, yes they are expensive but in our opinion worth it. We had used frontline but he was still getting ticks, the first year we used seresto we could see the ticks on his coat, none got to the stage where they were bloated and we could pick them off. The collar is also waterproof which is a bonus for us. Last year the collar was not as effective as in previous years and our vet did make comment, hopefully the company would have had some feedback and check the stre
  18. I use the maps that came with my Iphone, I also have google maps but the Iphone maps has the advantage of showing speed limits and is supported by tomtom
  19. Yes, brittania will cover an issue with caravan, as long as the car and caravan are on the same journey, no issue, also have it in writing.
  20. No doubt you will receive numerous replies. I am with coast ( formally park homes) very good when we had a claim for our window.
  21. I have to say I was shocked reading about this and that a dealership could act this way, had the OP not taken a photo then there would be no proof, so a lesson to us all. In my humble view the dealership clearly knew what they were doing and it begs the question, "how oftern have they done the same to others " They said the OP would have to wait until January for a NEW caravan, yet as proven they had the demonstrator hanging around waiting unti Janaury ready to pass it off as new. It does the caravan industry no favours with this fraud and I know the OP is now happy but I would have contac
  22. I must admit that I used to use AVG before Kaspersky, I can't remember which but either Avast or aviva although free have alot of adverts, I don't think AVG does. (Buying a mac computer is a bit OTT just to change antivirus though!)
  23. I'm in exactly the same position as you. Did you download the free BT package first and then uninstall Kaspersky, also did you have any issues uninstalling KIS before you installed Mcafee.
