Camping Pyrenees Natura

 • Estaing, Hautes Pyrenees 65400 2013 May Yes 5 Wifi on site expires every hour so you need to re log on. It's not a problem but after 8 weeks, it got a little annoying.

Apart from that, this place is utopia. Yes Yes 51-100 Yes Yes Yes 5 Yes All types depending on the pitch selected. You don't need a converter either. 5 Yes Yes My advice is to ride the route through google street view. Be aware that there are speed numbs in the local hamlet of Bun, I didn't see them until I hit them..... Needed a new jockey wheel! Lac du Estaing
Col du Solour
Col du coraduque
Col du Bordères
Arrens Marsous
Barrage du tec
Saint Savin
Les jardain du baths thermal baths
5 miles to a carrefour. Need a car for it unless you want a long cycle ride. Good news it's all downhill tot he shop. The bad news, it's all uphill back! 5 Meticulously maintained. 5 Yes Calm yet not dead. http://www.camping-pyrenees-natura.com https://www.caravantalk.co.uk/community/uploads/monthly_02_2014/ccs-38246-0-45207700-1392066529.jpg,monthly_02_2014/ccs-38246-0-41708600-1392066544.jpg,monthly_02_2014/ccs-38246-0-56194900-1392066561.jpg,monthly_02_2014/ccs-38246-0-64707500-1392066593.jpg,monthly_02_2014/ccs-38246-0-01437700-1392066606.jpg
The campsite:
Facilities are second to none, showers are warm and facilities block is cleaned regularly. There is also a dog washing point along with children's shower cubicle and baby baths. Washing facilities great, they give you washing tablets when you pay for a token to wash so no need to buy these from the shops

The reception area is lovely and quaint with a selection of very local artisan products for sale. Reception also gives free wifi access or for a small charge you can have access to wifi campsite wide

Behind reception is a lovely homely area with a very small bar. Virgine (the wife of the owner) is so very helpful, speaks very good English too. She makes a mean 4 cheese pizza and the owners host evenings with a two or three course meal. Only local produce used and its truly scrummy!

There is a sauna on site, which is free for most of the day. There is a jacuzzi and also a music room at your disposal

The campsite shop is absolutely brilliant. You have to see it to believe it. It's in a small hut which straddles a babbling brook. You can see it running below your feet. It's an honesty shop, pick what you want and then pay in reception. They have a good selection and the wine is all lovely!

Access is fine, I was slightly worries with a large caravan but it really was fine.

The views from the site are magnificant. I arrived in May when there was snow on the ground, I stayed until July when the site was baked in sunshine with eagles swooping overhead. Walks from the site are brilliant, cycling brilliant, tourists sites, brilliant... You get my drift!

I know, it's firmly at the back of my head at the moment until May when the countdown begins to another 6 weeks there starting June! That is if I don't kill myself on this 100 mile charity bike ride beforehand!! He he! The site and myself will definitely be missing the company if a fellow coachie couple. I'll just have to have a few extra glasses in your honour!

Then you will be there when Rob is there - we will have left on the 16th! Re the access - it's not that bad but do follow the instructions carefully. The CC instructions tell you to leave Argeles-Gazost on the D918, signposted Val d'Azun. After 4. 5miles turn left on the D13 through Bun. After Bun cross the river to turn right on the D103' following signs for Lac d'Estaing. Site is on the right in about 2. 5 miles.

Be VERY aware of the speed bumps in Arras-en-Lavedan and in Bun - in fact in any of the smaller towns - they can do damage if not traversed slowly.

Last year there had been a landslide in the valley and we had to approach over the mountain route - CC rang us a few days before we left home with the alternative route - it was not the best route, but we managed it without meeting something coming the other way! Hoping for the normal way in this year!

Sorry we won't get to meet you, but have a great time. We are there for 11 nights from 5th June.

From the title I assumed this was a naturist site!!

Good review, looks lovely.

Phil.

Me too - it's only now you've said that that I'm reassured it's not :-)

Yes, ill be there along with some of my family too who will be joining me. Ill be the one with the welsh flag flying, feel free to come and have a chat. I know the area like the back of my hand so if you want advice on what to do and where to go, just ask!

Yes, watch the speedbumps. ... i hit my jockey wheel on them. My advice would be to remove the jockey wheel on approach to Argeles Gazost as once you start the ascent from the main town, there isnt anywhere to stop and you will be forced to go over the bumps. .. They are bigger than kerbs! Also, as you approach Bun, they are there too but if the weather is wet, they are hard to see.

Just take your time on arrival and you will be fine, honestly. It is windy but its not a busy road by any means

Phil, its not a naturist site! Although, i must agree that it sounds like one.

Ill be making my way there this coming weekend. Taking the bike to do lots and lots of cycling!

Malc, feel free to message me if you want any more info. :)
