Do your research
Before booking your chosen pitch, be sure to do some research on family-friendly caravan sites. Whilst the idea of staying on a quiet campsite is tempting why not go to a campsite that has toilets and shower blocks, swimming pools, play areas and children’s clubs so that even if the weather isn’t great, the children will never be short of something to do.
Choose a family-friendly caravan
If you are going to rent out a caravan for your trip, opt for a model that will not only suit your vehicle but is also child-friendly and designed for families. You might want to look for features such as a compact kitchen, a washing machine, shower, toilet and offers good storage spaces inside and out.
Pack a first aid kit
When travelling with children, keep in mind the possibility of them having little accidents. Apart from educating your little ones on the potential dangers of being outdoors and teaching them safety around campfires, be sure to take a well-stocked first aid kit that includes band-aids, antiseptic cream, bandages, gauze, wipes and children’s painkillers.
Keep them entertained
Whilst gadgets are great on the journey, consider taking old-fashioned board games for your family entertainment once you’re on your pitch. Favourites such as Monopoly, Risk, Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble are great for getting everyone involved.
Stick to a routine
Routines can help children to feel secure and make it easier for you to get a timeframe that you can arrange activities around. That said, even if you’re on holiday , it can help to avoid meltdowns caused by being over-tired or hunger if you have your younger ones stick to regular bed and meal times.
