Welcome and I assume that, like cars, they want the authorised dealers to monitor the dampness every service. It keeps their dealers in cash and is a reason to reject warranty claims.

Regular servicing also may show problems before they surface.

The answer is simple, it is a condition of the warranty that the caravan is serviced and damp checked by either the supplying dealer or an approved workshop each year that the warranty is in force for, and within certain dates of the anniversary of the purchase.

You signed that you fully understood the terms and conditions when you bought the van.

It has absolutely nothing to do with "keeping a dealer in cash".

That comment is ridiculous as an owner can choose to use any Approved Workshop for the service and damp check to keep the warranty.

Can anybody tell me why to be eligible for the Coachman Damp Warranty the caravan needs to be serviced. How do you service a wall ?

not only does it need to be serviced, the service's must be carried out within a window of plus or minus 90 days of the anniversary of the date of original purchase. so if a previous owner defaulted on this then the warrantee is null & void

It isn't only Coachman as all new caravans have the same clause.

I bought a two year old pre-owned caravan of another make from a dealer and the manufacturer's warranty was transferred to me. At the second service in my ownership a small patch of 30% damp was detected in a wardrobe at the rear of the caravan. When I went to collect the 'van after the service the dealer's service department had already had contacted the manufacturer who sanctioned the repairs. The repairs consisted of the replacement of the rear external panel. The service manager told me that if the damp hadn't been detected at that time the repairs would have been more extensive and costly.
