Are Coachman Sinks Supposed To Corrode?

I am a regular camper and use my Coachman Amara 560/6 about 30 weekends a year and Holidays of about 4-5 weeks.

I thought that the sinks were stainless steel and would last a long time. I have had the caravan since new and it is four and half years old. Whilst we were away this week I found out that there was a hole in the sink and it appears to have corroded. Has this happened to anyone else? :(

Hi,

Although we have a Lunar, our sink was rusting after 12 months and was changed under warranty. When it came back with the new sink fitted Lunar had supplied the instructions that should have come with it. These say the sink should be dried after use. There are apparently different grades (quality) of st/stl some of which rust. I guess we know which caravan suppliers use.

Hi,

Theirs a number of grades of stainless steel-- some will rust others not. the most common one 18/8 grade. this is o. k but can be difficult to deep drawer( shape ) as it work hardens. Our Coachman 's sink is stained but not rusty as far as i can see - its 3. 5 years old.

If it corroded It hasn't rusted, it must have been in contact with a corrosive. Vinegar? Some other acid-containing solution such as kettle descaler?

Enjoy every minute of every day. It doesn't last nearly as long as you'd like, and there's no guarantee of coming this way again.
