Goodbye To Eriba Forum Friends

After years of being a member of the Eriba Forum I, along with some others seem to have been banned from the forum due to joining Eriba Folk forum. It would be nice to think that this is just some little administration error as none of us were told that we were going to be banned or why. Just incase we are definitely banned I would like to say that it's been a pleasure having jokes and discussions with some of you on the Eriba forum and we may just bump into some of you on our travels. It's a good job that all forums don't behave in this manner as I am a member of 3.

I assume your membership of CT continues. I don't know about the Eriba Folk Forum so hope you continue to enjoy our Forum.

Youre so right, their loss, as the members that they banned are the ones with the funniest sense of humour!!! Ellen

No,sorry for any confusion. I and others have been banned from the Eriba UK Forum without any reason given. Us that have been banned have joined a new Eriba forum. eribafolk. com and for some reason we are seen as a threat. I know that some Eriba people use CT so I thought I would let them know that we can no longer take part in the Eriba UK Forum. It's all pretty hard to understand and even harder to explain so sorry again for the confusion. Ellen

Obviously 'the management' want the new forum to succeed!

I cant understand why they feel threatened by the eribafolk. com forum as it is very different from the old forum and at the end of the day people have a choice if they want to join us in "the friendly forum". very strange!!!!!! Ellen.

Hi Ellen,

Unfortunately some forums are run by a few small minded individuals who take things personally.

If they have banned you for joining another Eriba forum, you will be considered to have committed heracy and the move will be considered treachery by the the other forum.

This is why forum's such as CaravanTalk succeeds, this forum is owned by a company and is run along commercial line, and perhaps the most important point is that decisions to ban someone is based on how they behave on "this forum", and is made after consultation with several people (Mods & Admin), to ensure the decision is made for the right reasons.

I wear the 'I've been banned from the Eriba Forum' medal with pride Ellen. In my case it was a few years ago and I was banned because I wouldn't be bullied into abandoning the writing of a book about Eribas, something you'd think all Eriba enthusiasts would welcome. As it happens the publishing industry weren't interested and so the basis of the book is available for all to see and read on my blogspot website and via a link on CT.

For anyone looking for a specialist Eriba forum, without the hassle I'd recommend http://www. eribafolk. com/ and why not review the Eriba material here on CT http://www. caravantalk. co. uk/community/forum/116-eriba-caravans/.

I've got nothing to do on this hot afternoon

but to settle down and write you a line.

Mornin Andy, It's all been pretty stupid of the administration team on the Eriba UK forum really, but you know just how bizzare their thinking can be. I personally have contributed very little to the forum of late as I found that a lot of the characters that you can have some good banter with were no longer posting. I must be a bit thick but I am still unable to see why the new forum is seen as a threat? Anyway, let's hope the eribafolk. com forum attracts many member who can have some good laughs, share experiences and knowledge and hopefully have some meets. After all the Welsh meet earlier this year proved to be very successful, sadly we were unable to attend. Keep well. Ellen.

Ellen, So how do the managers of one forum know that you have joined another? Are GCHQ and the US national security service bugging you as well as hacking Angela Merkel's phone ?

In my case I didn't bother to use a different name, couldn't see why i needed to really but other folk did use a different name so it's all pretty interesting isn't it!! Ellen.

In innocence the Admins of the new forum allowed access by anyone in a spirit of openness and clarity. That was exploited and presumably the list of members scrutinised and their posts and profiles evaluated for clues as to their identity. Some, like Ellen, had used the same identities and were easy to spot, others were presumably more difficult because they'd used alternative IDs.

Watch out, they will get you !!!!! You must be the only one they have yet to spot as the rest of us have been banned. What makes things even stranger is that once we were all banned without being told the pm system on the Eriba UK Forum was stopped for everyone.

Well they seem to have the idea that the 'new' forum was using the 'old' forums PM system to recruit members.

In fact the majority were recruited by email as people knew each other from Meets etc.

I heard about the 'new' forum over lunch with a friend .

In truth one 'new' forum member has admitted PMing three people about the 'new' forum, but most reasonable people can see nothing wrong with that. I'm sure Ben wouldn't get upset if I PM'd CT members and suggested they might like to join SwiftTalk or the CC Forum.

The reaction of the 'old' forum management was to shut down the whole PM system without warning or explanation. When uninvolved users complained they did not provide an explanation but said they were looking into the problem.

Let's not get paranoid. I'm alive and well under the same name . on both those forums.

I don't know what ID you use on the 'new' forum MG but 'Moorgate' isn't listed as a member? In the circumstances it's probably best not to broadcast the ID on open forum.

I know of at least 12 out of 22 members of the 'new' forum who have been banned.

Do not worry Ellen, there is life without TEF and as a Mod on CT I can appreciate a much better organised and democratic forum with a wider range of interests and experiences.

A quick update, i received an email from the Eriba Forum admin saying that i could remain a member providing that i did not promote the Eriba Folk forum. i was informed that just as asda would not advertise tesco in their stores then they do not wish to advertise the new forum on theirs. i can see what a big supermarket store has to lose but am stll baffled what 2 non commercial forums have to worry about!! anyway, i felt that i wanted to say goodbye to some friends before leaving the forum and so did exactly that this morning explaining that i had been banned, then un-banned as long as i towed the line. One member asked for an explanation from admin and low and behold my post was deleted and i am once again Banned!!! Something very strange going on me thinks. Ellen

Aha Ellen I've missed you. Now that I know your whereabouts I can still keep tabs on your rain goddess like capabilities.

Someone has registered my username so I've added 1 on the end - but it is still me.

Nice to see SDA here too we met at the very soggy Welsh meet in the Spring.
