Cheap Tyres From Amazon !

I know this seems daft but I have just bought two tyres for my car from Amazon who I wouldn't have even thought of going to, anyway. ........

Blackcircles quoted around £127 per tyre, supply only (225x45 - 19' Kuhmo)

Amazon price?? £87 delivered to my door. Delivery takes about 10 days.

So if you are in the market for tyres it's well worth checking out Amazon. I have no idea if caravan tyres are listed by them.

My tyres worked out at £17 more each!

Exactly the same tyre?

Yes the IDENTICAL tyre (I checked very carefully)

My local garage will fit/balance them for £10 a wheel (both prices I quoted were for delivery only in order to be a fair comparison)

I accept that it might not work out cheaper for everyone, but I wanted to make people aware that Amazon sell tyres and that in I MY instance I saved a fair amount.

Andy, were you able to confirm the age of the tyres before buying or is this an opportunity for a tyre company to offload 'old' tyres that some people might refuse to accept at a regular tyre fitter?

That was the thought that crossed my mind as well.

I did once buy a motorcycle tyre online (I think it was black circles) that was already 2 years old but being the rear on a bike that wasn't a problem. .....

I would have thought that a sudden and very unexpected failure of motorcycle tyre on any wheel would have needed a rapid application of of loo roll and who knows there could well be just the need for a tin-box and a trip to a mortuary.

Life in general can be a journey of chance with some winners and sadly some losers. Your outfit can never be left to chance. A short-while carrying out essential checks can ensure a long-time of happy & safe caravanning for all concerned.
Ignorance can often be bliss but is certainly not an excuse and when continually disregarded they can be totally disastrous for oneself and the innocent parties.

The thing about tyre prices is that the best prices today will probably not be the best prices next time. I had a great price off Asda for the caravan tyres (Goodyear Cargo) but high price from them next time for the car (Goodyear 4 Seasons). So, I bought the car tyres from Openeo, only to find next time the best price for the same tyres was my local A2Z Tyres. The best price for our Grand daughters car just a couple of weeks later was ATS. You have to shop around every time if you want the right price. I don't think any of them are dumping old stock, just the way it is!

Why is it I don't like the words " cheap " and " tyres " in the same sentence ? Guess I just don't !!

People aren't referring to cheap tyres they are referring to the best price for the same brand and size tyres.

There is no way of knowing the age of these tyres (the same as with any other on line seller) Car tyre age is not really an issue like it is for Motorhome and caravan tyres.

As I do in the region of 18-20k miles a year, age is not going to be any sort of issue because I will wear them out in about 18 months anyway. I will report back in respect of the age when I get them (should be in the next few days)

Could be a different matter for caravan tyres of course, but there again the chances of finding tyres with a high enough load rating for my caravan on the internet is pretty slim.

What I meant was that rear tyres on bikes normally don't last very long. ......

Having been a motorcyclist for 50 years I have experienced several punctures. I particularly remember a rear wheel one on a Norton Commando. Tubed tyre which deflated instantly at 60 mph. A following rider said he was amazed that I'd managed to stay aboard as I wrestled the bike to a safe halt. I did use both lanes of a dual carriageway to do it. ....

Tubeless tyres on bikes are probably one of the biggest improvements.

Are you sure they are made for the UK market specification though????

They must be because they are marked "Brexit Compliant' on the sidewall.
