Kampa Rally Air Pro Awning

I have just purchased a Rally Air Pro 390 awning and have erected it for the first time. Can anyone tell me what the black webbing straps attached to the bottom of the two sides are for? I thought that they were to regulate the distance of the bottom of the two end air poles from the caravan but the straps are too long. Can anyone help?

They set the front leg distance, the eyelets at the back should be directly under the back of the awning (hard to explain!).

We read instructions and peged them under the van, they were then in the wrong place!.

Next time we'll put awning through rail, inflate/ adjust and peg it from there. .

Thanks to rocoantrim for raising the question and Complete idiot (hate typing that) for the very helpful information. I suspected that the strap was a measuring device and will give it a go next time we put up the awning. Learnt lots from the thread and must say that it's a pity that Kamp's instruction leaflet could have been better. Could you please print the Web address where this info came from please?

Many thanks.

Mine is too long and there is slack at the van end, I use the zipping and unzipping of doors to gauge the distance to the front.

Interestingly whist at the national I looked on Kampa's trade stand and some there had slack in the webbing, seems a bit pointless if you can't fully zip the door up and I always give mine a good pull underneath the van.

if you peg it down it helps control the distance the corner poles are from the van, especially when the door is open. It also gives the storm poles somewhere to attach into

If you look at the pictures they aren't pegging them under the 'van (as they say in the instructions).

If you pull them too far back the door panels/ sides will be loose and sagging.

The webbing straps are too long, it's the distance between the eyelet and the front leg that counts.

Fist time out I pulled all the pegs out and started again from scratch, instructions clear as mud!.

Complete idiot No 2 here. I was wondering what the slack in the webbing was for.

Oh well- if all else fails, read the instructions.

Thanks, lozzyf - and jjohnd for asking the question.

I think that we should all meet up, Somehow join the awnings together, open the red wine and celebrate!

Thanks everyone for you input, especially Lozzyf! I thought that the strap was there to regulate the distance to the front poles but what confused me was that the Kampa instructions say 'Locate the eyelet on the webbing straps close to the rear pegging points (Rally only not Rally Pro).'

We are in France at the moment and I will try to follow Lozzyf's instructions when we move to our next site on Sunday.

Thanks again everybody.
