Popular Post Crannoghome
Well, last Friday, after a wait of nearly 5 months, we became the proud owners of a new Lunar Solaris 462. The 2 hour handover by Grantham Caravans was very good with all the van’s services powered up and demonstrated. The van had been well prepared and we didn’t feel rushed; only after we were fully satisfied with everything did we do the paperwork and drive home. Family matters last weekend prevented us from taking advantage of Grantham Caravans’ offer of a free first night at a local site, but it gave us an opportunity to get to know the van better, have the wheels balanced (50g and 60g weights required) and load up ready for a few days away the following week. Our drive is gravel and this is the first time we’ve had a van without a pneumatic jockey wheel, and the way it just dug into the gravel and slid, not rotating, was alarming. Fortunately, a quick trip to our local caravan shop and the purchase of an Al-Ko Soft Wheel provided the answer, a fit, form and function replacement to the standard hard Al-Ko wheel without any of the disadvantages of a pneumatic tyre. The only other problem we’ve found is the high noseweight, measured at just over 80Kg when leaving the dealer, 5Kg over our car’s limit, so careful loading is going to be essential. So, after a couple of nights away are we still smiling? Quite definitely, yes! Our van is well made, everything works and it is a lovely place to be. The shower puts many in club sites to shame, the blown air system is near-silent, the beds are comfy and the LED lighting options are amazing. Well done Lunar and thank you Paul at Grantham Caravans.

Pheasant
Our Clubman is now eighteen months old now and I would say, plus one,as we are very pleased with it overall, only serious problem has been ATC problems,Alkos fault not Lunar, and the floor delamination,Lunars fault, repaired under warranty but reappearing in another area now. Nose weight seems above average weight on all Lunars, struggle to get ours below 85kgs. with only two calor lights and a few low weight bits and bobs. Probably spent roughly 400 nights and approx 6k miles so far, tows really well,on second tow car now.

It took a lot of moving around to get the 50kg ex-works noseweight on my Clubman ES up to 80 kg to suit my Santa Fe - and even more work to get it up to 100 kg for my Touareg. It's good that Crannoghome is happy with the delivered quality of his new Lunar - I had a stack of issues on ours but I still wouldn't want anything different. 2015 VW Touareg 3. 0 V6 TDI + 2013 Lunar Clubman ES
