Robbido
Evening all, We have an Outwell Mirage 400SA blow-up awning, it's quite good actually. My question is, as it's a weighty brute of a thing at 32kg, where's the best place to transport it ? on the floor in the 'van, if so would over the axle on a non-slip mat be the place or should I stick it in the boot of the car ? ( 'van is a Sterling Elite 580 by the way ) many thanks for any help Robbido.
WispMan
Ours goes into the car on the rear seats - always, due to weight consideration. 1 Quote Graham Unless otherwise stated all posts are my personal opinion

DaveMiller
32Kg! That's not an awning; it's a marquee. I curse the weight of ours at 18Kg which shares the back seat of our car with the dog whom I've not consulted over his feelings toward the arrangement, perhaps I should. Robbido
Up against the rear seats should be over the back axle, that would sound ok.
Ern
With the low pay load of most caravans, I'm surprised that it can go in the caravan at all. We used to put ours in the car when we had a full size awning. Quote Ern

gravon42
My Bradcot was 33kg. That went in the caravan on the floor. Artleknock
I had thought of that but i think the dog would object ! I drop the small side of the seat flat and the awning sits lengthways to the car on that and the boot. The dog gets the rest of the seat, she's a big girl and she is quite happy with that. This is a problem with air awnings in that they weigh near the same as a conventional awning as the weight is in the air frame instead of the solid frame but you can't split the weight in to awning and poles . Any heavy objects like awnings should be in the car as 32 kg is very large part or near a third of a left over payload (100kg)after battery and mover are subtracted in most caravans .
