Steam Cleaning Of Caravans

Recommended Posts

I came across a Company, possibly somewhere in the Midlands, who were offering a caravan steam cleaning service.

Has anyone any experience of a steam cleaned caravan? If so, what are the pro and cons?

Outside. I seem to remember they showed before and after photos of the exterior.

Update: The service is offered by Banbury caravans at Aynho Wharf and is shown at the bottom of the home page.

Still seeking any experiences of steam washing

Don't know about new caravans with one-piece structure and how they are built, as its not good to use power-washes. As you know, steam is hotter than boiling water. So watch out, or try out a small section and see how that goes :(

I would be very cautious about allowing steam anywhere near the graphics or seams.

Ironically I would welcome the clean removal of a dirty and faded graphic at the front of my caravan. ;)

I wonder about the seal under the awning rail etc. and the effect on that.

Having worked on the business end of a steam cleaner some years ago I would never use one on a caravan, they have their uses but not on a caravan too many delicate joints and seals.

Pressure washer are fine as long as you don't jet wash too close and keep it moving, just the fine mist under slight pressure will do, remember to cover the fridge vents first.

I would never use a pressure washer on my van, why inflict the joints to a potential problem, we caravan owners have enough problems with damp without helping it along. .

Thank you for all comments and suggestions.

When I next collect my caravan from storage, which is not far from Aynho wharf, I have been granted access to the caravan washing bay at the storage site. The water from the hose is at mains pressure for the area.

I would not put steam anywhere near my caravan . Apart from the heat and stress areas and the effects on the plastics Abs and grp and mastic seals .
