Roof?  Polish?

Never cleaned the caravan roof, ever! Why? You can't see it and rain keeps bird poo etc off it, you don't clean underneath it so why on top of it?

Polish? I use Autoglym Caravan & Motorhome Cleaner with a wet sponge and hose it off or take it to the local car wash but I've never used polish and whenever I part-ex my caravans the dealers always comment on how well I've looked after them.

It is kept indoors though when I'm not using it.

Never cleaned the caravan roof, ever! Why?. . . . . . .

One reason is that some of us use covers and before fitting, contact surfaces need to be cleaned and polished to help protect from pick up of foreign matter by our covers.

You mention bird poo and this is a very good reason to clean the roof as bird poo contains Uric acid, this eats into car paint if not removed, caravan paint is thinner and the aluminum that it covers won't appreciate it either, polish gives the paint a bit more protection until its washed, however bird poo can also remove polish :(

I don't have an aluminium roof so I should be ok  :)

I do the top first.. .simply because my knees wear out too quick to do ladders last!

I understand the idea of making sure the top dirt runs off the prewashed/polished lower areas to prevent streaks.. .but what about the road grit that hangs around more on the bottom of vehicles that you drag up the body?

Interesting topic this.

I must remember to ask my butler which method he uses to clean the caravan.
